The Tan Hill Inn

Fantastic views in the middle of the Yorkshire dales. Lovely comfortable bed, hot rainfall showers were perfect after coming back from a cold wet day.

Location and quirkiness. Good draught beers.

Bedroom and en-suite were clean, but public areas were not clean - perhaps that has to go with the territory of walkers and dog owners? Food was very basic pub grub and could easily have been better - warm dry chips, boiled carrot dried out under a heat lamp, undiluted Bisto gravy, lasagne much more pasta than meat; at breakfast, cheap thin bacon, dried out mushrooms, Eggs Benedict smothered in cheap Hollandaise Sauce. What a pity, and not a good example of English cuisine to be found in a “world famous” pub which presumably attracts visitors from around the globe.

Love visiting the Tan Hill Inn. The food is good, beer is good & staff are friendly & helpful The room was nicely decorated & the shower was amazing & red hot. Can control heating too in the room, which is good as it's always freezing 🥶 we even got a welcome gift for our dog & a bed for him to sleep on & a bowl. Breakfasts are always nice, and you get a good-sized portion & can help yourself to toast & and coffee, etc

The floors were filthy in the main room & bathroom. We took our shoes off, and you could feel the floor in the room hadn't been swept & our feet were black after walking on them, so we resorted to keeping our socks on. There was no bath mat for the shower, so we used a hand towel & after drying the floor, the towel was mucky from the tiles. The shower wasn't very clean & neither was the toilet. Hopefully, next time we stay, it's had a good deep clean as we really do love the Tan Hill Inn
