Holiday Inn & Suites Marlborough by IHG

We have stayed in this hotel several times in the past as it is quiet, convenient and clean. They are doing major Reno’s and upgrades so it should be nice when these are completed . They have a dining room which is very quiet but the food and service are good. The complementary breakfast was pretty standard.

Very friendly front desk and kitchen staff. Hotel recently updated and some work is continuing. Lovely breakfast buffet. Room was quiet and comfortable. Very nice stay before the holidays. There is a bar area, but closed before I checked in. USA today newspaper available in am.

We were “required” to stay here for a recent ice skating competition. I don’t know how these places are selected, but they would do far better to compete by providing a decent overnight experience rather than being part of a “list” of hotels for an ice skating competition . Room had evidence of leaks in the popcorn ceiling. Bathroom was in desperate need of updating. Outdated furniture appeared as though it has been gnawed on or taken a beating over the years. Breakfast buffet was mediocre and cost extra. Holiday Inn should be embarrassed to have this establishment holding their name. There appeared to be updated hotels within a mile radius.

We checked into the room, and I first thing l noticed is that the room was dark. I turned on every light in the place, and it was still little better than cave-like. It seemed clean enough, but who could really tell. I would not walk on the carpet in my bare feet. There were only two bath towels and two wash cloths, and one of the wash cloths had a mysterious stain on it that rendered it unusable. Basic choice of tv channels. On the plus side, plenty of places to eat and shop close by. (And I would suggest leaving the hotel to do that.)

I don't know where to start. So many problems. For $166 a night (During the week, not the weekend) I expected more. A basic room, not a suite. This room wasn't worth $80 a night. 1. Cloudy channels on the tv. 2. Awful bathroom. Toilet took forever to flush, weak shower pressure, and the exhaust fan didn't work 3. Phone didn't work in the room. Trying calling front desk from my cell and got no answer 4. Unable to connect to wifi 5. Car blocked in by other cars in morning when I was trying to leave for a morning meeting. 6. No wash cloths in my room after housekeeping cleaned up. I had to wash with a hand towel, because it took 7 hrs and multiple attempts before I finally got wash cloths. 7. Main entrance sits on a dangerous curve. Be careful when pulling in and out. The Holiday Inn sign by the road doesnt light up, so that doesn't help. 8. No microwave or mini fridge in room.

Stayed here for a hockey tournament. 2 teams. 15 kids on a team plus the families. First impression of the hotel seemed pretty good. Lobby was nice. Checked in. The girl at the desk was friendly. She gave us our keys & told us where our room was on the 1st floor all the way around to the back. However, she did not tell us about the breakfast vouchers. Found that out when we went to breakfast the following morning and had to go back to the room to get them. Not happy. 😡We proceed to our room. I felt like I was in the Shining! The hallway went on forever. Now I wouldn’t have minded it if it was a nice hallway. It was dark, the ceilings were very low & the carpet was dirty & disgusting. Oh & hot as heck! Room is ok. Again carpet was dirty & gross. Bathroom just ok. AC was very loud. Next morning go to breakfast. It was average but the voucher system is ridiculous. Here come the boys & you are asking them for their vouchers telling they need to go back & get them. Really!! They are all wearing the same uniform. Did you think they just hopped of a bus from somewhere just to come & eat your average breakfast?? Anyway on my way back to my room I notice a breakfast tray in the hallway. It was there ALL day that I went & told the front desk. Needed ice. Ice machine was out of order on 1st floor. Went to desk again asking where is there another one. The girl had no clue that the machine was broken. How do you not know that. Lastly the room was not restocked with the proper amount of towels. 3 people in the room & we got 2 towels 2 washcloths. Back to the front desk AGAIN!! No apologies, nothing!!

Our room was clean and quiet. The only issues were that the bathroom fan did not work, the bathtub took almost 12 hours to drain completely, and the TV pixelated a lot. For the most part the staff was very friendly, with the exception of a few of the front desk clerks who seemed a little annoyed at our questions. The pool was nice and big. I would stay here again despite the few issues we had.

My hockey team reserved this hotel for 5 days in july, 15 rooms at $139 usd thats a serious amount of cash and what we got in return was front desk who werent very helpful, rooms that didnt get cleaned , not enough refrigerators for the amount of rooms reserved. We travel a lot for this sport and this has to be the worst place we have ever stayed.

I would like the holiday inn Corp to develop a better set of standards for upkeep, refurbish, maintenance and service. Let me clarify, the people that work at this holiday inn are as friendly and hard working as you will find anywhere, but they are trying to put their fingers in the dam here. The poor woman at the front desk seemed to be working double shifts alone at the front desk, causing backups and lines frequently during our stay. The women in the cafe were outstanding and friendly but the hotel was full and they could barely get the tables bussed, refresh the food with the crowds. When people are paying this amount PER ROOM you should staff your hotel better and maintain it better. I will stay somewhere else next year, the competition is doing it better.

Brand new property that was super to stay at. Extremely friendly staff and the complimentary drinks and dinner were superb! I would definitely recommend this property for traveling families, or those wanting a quiet location. Excellent!
