Magnuson Grand Hotel and Conference Center Tyler

Check-in was pleasant, staff was friendly and answered questions. Several rooms under re-model--which is a great thing, they try to keep the stuff out of the walking areas. They use old photos of the place in it's prime, DOES NOT LOOK THAT WAY NOW, sadly.

It appears that the hotel may have been recently purchased by new owners who are attempting to renovate, it isn't as GRAND as the photos show, old dresser drawers, and old worn out chair, room had a very musty/closed-in smell, even though it appeared clean. The smoke detector was on the sink cabinet with the battery half in. Iron, but no ironing board, hair dryer on top of shelf and not hung on wall, no hangers available. The grounds were trash littered, one person was weed-eating, but not cleaning up any of the materials. The kitchen area and bar area are under re-construction, so only continental-style breakfast available. The pool was in disarray, no towels available for guests visible, "unused" gates locked on the outside, but the main gate going in was free access, no life-saving float available.

Kids enjoyed the pool, but no shade for parents to sit in.

There were spiders on the bed and bug shells around the edges. We left w/o spending the night.

I have nothing positive to share about my stay there.

Disappointing to say the least. I should have paid more attention to the negative reviews rather than the positive ones. On 6-4-25, I stayed in room #108. The curtain rod was broken. I had to rig it to get it to close. The smell of mold permeated the room. It appeared they had just cleaned the room. They had not. Everything was sweating. The floor had water on it. The vanity had water on it. The bed was damp. The towels and wash cloths were damp. Turns out it was humidity. After running the A\C for hours it began to dry out. Anytime the A\C cycled out, the moisture returned. The flooring was bucked up. It was nasty and sticky. I was hesitant to touch anything in the room. There was what appeared to be dried blood on the floor beside the bed. The hair dryer wouldn't work. There was mold on the bathroom ceiling and shower curtain. Water wouldn't drain out of the sink. The commode didn't flush properly. Breakfast? Joke. Internet says breakfast starts at 6:30. It doesn't. At 7:00 it was dark as a dungeon in the dining room. There were some apples, a few fruit loops, no milk. There was a Waffle maker. One pot of coffee. Not even a dry pastry. When leaving the property, I felt something biting the back of my hand. It was a flea. Shortly after, I felt something biting my ear. It was another one. How disgusting and infuriating! I will never patronize Magnuson Grand Hotel again. I don't understand why they have "Grand" in the description because this place is anything but grand. I am uploading pictures to substantiate my experience. The shine on 2 of the pictures of the floor is water. I do not recommend this motel. Please don't let the positive reviews influence your decision about this place.

Check in lady was very sweet.......she needs to practice her English! Room was clean......beds were great!......price was reasonable!.......we got our $50 room deposit back!

We are handicapped........and the handicapped parking spot was being used by the construction crew!.......so my husband had to walk across rocks with his walker!.......why did they put us where they were working???

El peor hotel que he estado en Tyler Tx. Los alrededores y estacionamiento sucios, la cama sonaba, cuarto huele a humedad, anteriormente hubo cuadros o decoraciones y las quitaron y se ven las manchas en la pared, el baño no pude usarlo porque el olor a cucaracha es insoportable, todo oxidado, ofrecen un desayuno muy nefasto ya que solo tienen pan para tostar y wafles y el cafe estaba quemado y por último el checking de salida lo hacen a las 11:00am pero desactivaron mi tarjeta mucho antes de las 11am y entre las 9am y 10am que sali por 20min no pude entrar a sacar mis cosas me tocó ir hasta la recepción para que la activarán.

A/C worked great. Good water pressure in the shower. Good location

The first room had standing water on the floor. I got a new room promptly. In the second room, the tv was crooked and the tv remote didn't work. I went to get new batteries and no one was at the front desk. I waited a while, finally got new batteries and replaced them. Still didn't work.
