Newport Marriott Hotel & Spa

Excellent staff

Great walking distance to restaurants and shops. Rooms were OK but small and the view was not much unless you stood at the corner window and looked the left. The rate was pricey and in combination with the several taxes, valet parking was $40.00 per night ($35.00 per night to park myself off site). An additional fee (which you could not opt out on) was a “Destination Fee” of $35.00 per night which I do not know what it is for. You can receive back $20.00 per night as a credit if used in an on-site restaurant, bar or room service but there were constraints to when it can be used. It seemed that being a Marriott Bonvoy member did not matter except for receiving points. We stayed at this hotel many years ago prior to being renovated and there were no parking or destination fees. It seems to me that guests are paying for those renovations and the accommodations overall are not worth it.

Overall a good experience was ruined by a rude desk manager at check out. I was the sole person checking out this morning (with a very nice associate) and then another person came up behind me to check out. The desk manager came out to meet the other person and, rather than checking him out at one of the three other stations, started staring angrily at me and hovering over the associate. This went on for about seven minutes. It’s was extremely uncomfortable and unnecessary.

The best and most scenic spot in Newport!! I loved the hotel restaurants too!

Rooms and Gym were great

I reserved two rooms, one night. Although we arrived together in just one car, we were charged for two parking fees. The total extra charge amounts to $48. I have emailed Marriott asking for the refund, but no answer at all

The hotel especially our room are clean. We really enjoyed our stay.
