Thon Hotel Rosenkrantz

Like many hotels in Norway, they did not have air conditioning - but they did have a large fan in the room that could be plugged in and we used that during our stay. The bath tub is a bit deep, and our room had a tub/shower combination - so I needed to move the tub/shower door, which it took me a few minutes to realize was on hinges - to swing my leg over the edge of the tub to enter. They do have a handle inside the tub/shower area to assist. There is a window that can be opened in the bathroom, as well as the bedroom area. There was nice room darkening drapes for the bedroom area. Fridge is a beverage cooler - so not as cold as a US fridge - still, it was better than room temperature. Our room view was not scenic - but we didn't pay for a room with a view - so no complaints. We looked across at other buildings, but there was a reasonable amount of space between the buildings and our room. Staff was wonderful - They were always willing to lend a helping hand. We got restaurant recommendations from them. When I had a miscommunication with a housekeeping, it was cleared up right away. The staff was quick to offer to call a taxi for us when needed. Breakfast buffet offered many, many choices. Hot and cold foods. I would definitely recommend staying here.

The location was close to the harbor. It was walkable and we were able to walk through the old town area which was just steps away. The breakfast had many choices. Everything tasted fresh and the space was clean and organized. Our room was clean as well.

The hotel was smart, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was superb. It was peak season in Bergen, though, so it was also extortionately expensive, especially for a “family” room that was the size of a generous single. For parents with a teenager, there was barely enough space to open a suitcase. Every sound of the lift mechanism was also audible, all night, behind the headboard of the double bed. Beware of room 525.

We were pleasantly surprised when we saw the room, it is not huge but normal sized. The breakfast was wonderful and the location is perfect to see the old town or hike up to the hi top. I’d recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Bergen!

The Thin hotels are always reliable. The free breakfast is stunning and can meet any needs, adventurous or timid. This time the head desk person was very personable and helpful. I watched him rescue two others in addition to myself.

Terrific location, great views. Beds are comfortable. Love the espresso machines for coffee anytime. The breakfast is unbelievable- all sorts of choices for every nationality.

Nice comfortable bed, breakfast included and central location. Limited parking, very noisy kids in the street until 3am.
