Thon Hotel Rosenkrantz

My wife and I stayed here on our trip through Norway. It was an excellent stay; the location was close to the water, and we were able to explore the historic sights of Bergen easily. The room was clean and bright, the WiFi was excellent, the breakfast was delicious. I would recommend anyone should stay here.

Great place to stay near Bryggen in Bergen. Spacious hotel with great service. Near everything while being removed from the tourist bustle.

We arrived for a three night stay before our tour of Norway began. The location was perfect. The breakfast buffet was outstanding. Our room was quiet.

We decided to stay here after previously booking one of the more expensive “luxury” hotels closer to the fish market and commercial area and then reading the comments from disappointed travelers there. The location was ideal and peaceful despite being only one street away from the old part of the wharf. There was a good breakfast, small gym, and helpful staff. Our superior double room, 542, was on a corner and had character, with its little round seating area, and was comfortable, clean, had good light and interesting views. The bathroom was small but functional for our 2 night stay. The hallways were a bit quirky and the decor generally was a bit dated. Overall we were very satisfied, would stay here again, and thought it was very good value.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is well located... just steps from the historic wharf area, but on a quiet street. The breakfast was excellent, and coffee and water were available 24/7. I did wish there was an on site restaurant one night during a rainstorm, but the there are many dining options nearby.

Thon Hotel is very conveniently located. The breakfast buffet offers very wide choice, gluten free, hot, cold. They could offer some guidance to guests as they come in as it is a vert big room and I only saw the gluten free and non diary options before we finished. Room was small and overlooked the back car park and unattractive court yards. Bed had a massive rotating screen at the end of it which was difficult to switch off. All in all a convenient but surprised it is rated 4 star. Final point, as was customary in Norway, in our experience, service tends to be transactional. When we arrived and announced we had a booking, the first words uttered to us, "passports please". No "welcome to Thon Hotel" or "enjoy your stay". And at times the attitude was not that helpful . Not just here.

Very beautiful hotel. Centrally located for all tourism. Room small but beautifully appointed. Staff very pleasant helpful 😊 Breakfast had vast choices. If i had one criticism the hot breakfast was not warm so stuck to continental. Appreciate dealing with lots of people so this was our only negative. Thankyou.

I like Thon hotels in general. I think the brand is better than my ordinary hotel chain. But usually also more expensive. Make sense..... This is a old hotel, and its easy to see its tired. Anyway nice employees, nice breakfast and a "in the middle" room assigned. Waterboiler in room is positive, nice soaps as well. A single bed and a cramped small room is no halleluja feeling, but it worked ok for me for a night. Room way to hot for me in the night, and not possible to adjust temperature is a minus. Saved by the possibility to open the window a bit. Centrally located and cozy bar area. Will stay again.
