Burnside Cottage

Beautiful rooms, great views, meals were excellent and great service from host Kacey who also had good knowledge about the area and places to visit.

We had a brilliant stay at Burnside cottage as part of our Scottish highlands Road trip. The room was generous probably bigger than most hotels I’ve ever stayed in and extremely clean. We were met on arrival by the owner who was incredibly friendly and gave us a warm welcome and lots of useful tips on things to see and do in the area. The breakfast was delicious and we had a great night sleep, don’t miss this little gem.

Absolutely wonderful hospitality, and the location was excellent. The hosts gave us a myriad of suggestions on where to explore. We will be returning here to stay longer!

Excellent location close to Ferry and John O'Groats.

Burnside provides a touch of class in the windswept northern highlands. We arrived late, after finishing our Lands End to John o’Groats bike ride and were given a secure space to lock our bikes. The hosts then served up a delicious and nutritious meal. Our room was modern, comfortable and large with private bathroom. We particularly appreciated the thoughtful touches, like water and milk in refillable bottles, and paper-wrapped eco-soap to avoid those awful single-use plastic bottles of shower gel. The breakfast was second-to-none, and the hostess gave us some excellent tips on visiting the local area. Highly recommended!

Burnside Cottage is an excellent place to spend a few days exploring the North Coast! We were able to see Duncansby Stacks, Dunnet Head, and took the ferry trip over to the Orkney Islands. Our room was very comfortable, had a great view, the host was very welcoming, and the food was fantastic! Particularly helpful and appreciated was the late night snack offerings after a long day on the Orkneys!

Went to John O’Groats/Burnside to visit the Orkney Islands, Stacey was a great hostess providing a great deal of helpful information about the surrounding area and great suggestions for dinner.

The hosts were wonderful. We arrived late and they prepared some sandwiches for us. The room was clean and had lots of lovely details. Overall a great experience.

What a beautiful place. Stay more than one night, please. There is a lot to see and do in the area and the accommodations are over the top. This lovely, beautifully decorated, well appointed B&B is remote enough to offer peace and quiet but only a short drive away from towns with great restaurants. Large rooms, comfortable beds, excellent pillow selection, wee mini fridge and handmade soaps. There is a definite effort to reduce waste and their carbon footprint. A location so close to the ferry offers the option of going over to Orkney for the day and returning in the evening (if you only have a short window of time). We cannot say enough nice things about this B&B and it's lovely hostess. Thanks you for such a terrific experience Kasey.
