2417 at Lihue Oceanfront Resort

Our booking #4821784229. We were celebrating 45 year anniversary. We had received an email with a possible upgrade. Told the receptionest about email she said it would be $500 more. She was not helpful. We also did not receive Kamaania rates after giving our Hawaii ID's. Please help with that.

The facility itself nice from the outside, as well as inside the main part of the building. The pool looked okay from a distance as well. Music at the lounge was great for the one time that we ate dinner there.

For paying $2,300 for a room for a week with a pool and ocean view, we could only see the pool and the mismatched shingles outside of our door. Not much of an ocean view at all, especially for that price. The chairs and table outside were rickety at best, and you had to use extreme caution getting on the chairs or else it'd tip over. The towel hanger in the bathroom was falling off of the sink. As soon as the floor changed from the entryway to the main living area, the piece at the floor elevation change was 100% loose and would frequently end up elsewhere in the room if not careful. The pool liner had holes in the bottom of it, and felt sandy at the bottom. The patio area around the pool was in extreme need of a powerwash. For dinner at the lounge, the waitress was very unattentive and more often standing at the bar area. Fries were cold and fish and chips order was tiny. Oh, and the sliding screen door was falling off the tracks and hard to open/close. Overall, not impressed and would like some sort of decent refund. I would not pay $2,300 for the experience we had.

Do NOT stay here! Resort is only average & for price you can find better elsewhere anyway - just do yourself a favour and avoid. As for the room, we can’t rate that itself as after a long flight we couldn’t even get into the room due to a mistake the owner admitted in writing she had made & was then uncontactable! She will not refund but pleads for compassion from you! . The hotel tried calling her 3 times to sort with no answer, we left a message and called her cleaner with also no answer. We waited hours and then booked a room with the hotel itself just to have a bed. We decided due to it being peak season we would book elsewhere to secure a spot as 8hrs later we still had not heard from her & needed somewhere for next few nights. Woke to a few text messages claiming she had tried to call hotel and begging for empathy as we would ruin her and she couldn’t afford relocation costs etc. When I said we just wanted a full refund she told us “nope, only the one night & that we would need to take the rest up with booking.com as she wasn’t going to pay us! Asks for compassion then basically steals your money when she was at fault, admitted the fault and wasn’t contactable. Basically stole our money for a service she didn’t provide. Claims this was first mistake since 2907 - wish I’d read more reviews as seems a common occurrence! Absolute disgrace of a human!

Our kids loved the pool and after a long fight; we appreciated the very short drive to the resort from the airport. The resort is well situated on the Island and the resort grounds are beautiful.

I should have checked the room description more closely before booking as the double beds (smaller than queen beds) were too small for our needs. We made do; but it wasn't ideal. Additionally, there was a maintenance issue with our room and we had to switch mid-way through; the staff were helpful in us making the transition. Additionally, there can be a shortage of pool lounges depending on the time of day.

Shower dripped and flooded the BR floor overnight, light inside the door never worked.
