"Not what I expected from a 4.8 star reviewed hotel"

4.0

Rooms need to be updated. Mattress was collapsed from wear and so uncomfortable. Woke up sore and achy. Walls are very thin. Room next door had a loud group of people that ketp me up from 2:15 am to 3:46 am before I finally called the front desk to ask them to quiet down. I am surprised that this hotel was rated so highly. The restaurant and bar are very nice and the food is very good. Staff at the front desk were lovely and welcoming.

"Old world charm and old world plumbing"

4.0

A little confused at the plethora of great reviews for this pretty but badly aging hotel, unless of course my husband and I were given the worst room in the place. No hot water in the bathroom — we had to wait until morning for any at all, and then it was spotty during my husband’s shower (I was afraid to take one). The bathroom window was also unsealed in spots (or perhaps completely) so freezing air came right on in, making it more like an ice box than a bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the room clean, although the stench of an unpleasant cleaner (perhaps pine sol, not sure) was pretty awful and never dissipated. On the plus side, everyone was pleasant and the restaurant food delicious. Despite bringing up the bathroom issues at check-out, we got no credit or even apology. Won’t be staying here again when visiting the city.

"Charming Seattle Stay"

8.0

This hotel is so beautiful and charming. It is the perfect spot for a romantic stay in the city. The staff are all so attentive and kind, and truly made us feel so special and valued as guests. The hotel's restaurant/bar is also lovely, where we had delicious meals with excellent service. With it's historic charm also comes some minor flaws. The rooms are beautiful but quite old. We found the hotel to be quite creaky and noisy, and the air vents would often wake us up throughout the night with rattling/clicking noises. There is also only the option for valet parking, which was a steep $65USD per night. Despite these little flaws we would gladly stay here again.

"They'll take care of you"

10.0

Check in was easy and smooth, as was valet. Entrance to hotel is easy to find from the street. Small area for cars waiting for valet, but there is street parking and a lot across the street if busy. courtyard area was so cute, and a nice place to wait for our car. Lobby had water available which came in handy multiple times. Small elevator (out of their control, old building, just wanted to make note of it.) 3 person capacity. Rooms easy to find, doors easily accessible with key. Spacious rooms for how old the building is. Very comfortable. Room had one complementary water bottle, with other beverages available for purchase. Kettle for tea and pods for coffee. Room had ample outlets. Beds were very comfortable with a generous amount of pillows. Bathroom was clean, water was hot, little soaps smelled nice. No fan in the bathroom, but a window that can be cracked is in the bathroom. Small heater/fan in room, doesn't do much for the room. Windows are able to be opened slightly in the room though for airflow. T.V., mini fridge, hair dryer, laundry bag, available. Did not notice too much noise, stayed middle of the week. We had a bump in our experience, but since it was handled so well I am not going to state what it was. Human error caused some delays, and the hotel, Richard(?) specifically, really went above and beyond to make it up to us. Our needs were so perfectly taken care of at this hotel, and for how they treated us after an oopsies, it will be our go to now. Mistakes happen, how you handle them is what's important and they handled a mistake as perfectly as one could ask for. Location is also nice, felt safe being outside at night, and was able to walk to the seahawks parade. The hotel is at the top of a bunch of steep hills, so if you plan to travel by foot, keep that in mind. returning was a journey up those hills. Will recommend to anyone needing to stay in seattle. -reservation was under Brown if the hotel was curious about the issue stated.

"Weekend Getaway"

10.0

Very nice hotel. There is a public parking lot across the street, but utilizing valet parking was worth it. Good location to activities that we had planned in the area. Room was nice, street noise was noticeable due to single pane windows and close to the medical district, assuming ambulances. The St James Cathedral was a block away and worth visiting. Several dining choices within the immediate area. The hotel restaurant was very good.

"Fabulous historical ambiance and lobby/bar/restaurant, but overall experience does need some fine tuning."

6.0

Certain aspects of the rooms could be upgraded without endangering the old charm: The curtains do not close entirely. The AC/heating unit underperforms and makes the air dry. Two electric devices cannot be used at one time on top of the drawers (one will shut off invariably) despite an abundance of power sockets. The toilet clogged/flooded and had to be fixed twice. There was no ceiling lamp in our room, making it too dim even in daytime.
