"Nice one night stay"

6.0

We stayed one night at the Residence Inn West End. We were in a penthouse suite, in Room 224. It had 2 queen beds, one being upstairs in the loft. There were 2 bathrooms, one on each level. The bathrooms both had a tub and shower. There was a full size refrigerator, stove, microwave, and dishwasher. There was no ice when we arrived, so we turned on the ice maker. But then I went to the office to ask where an ice machine was. The answer was there was no ice machine, since the fridge made ice. I said we were thirsty and it would be a while before the ice was made. The solution was to buy a bag of ice for $5.83. If we were staying more than one night, this wouldn’t have been so much of a problem. There were 3 flat screen TVs in the suite. There was a small ceiling fan. The office door is locked at night, and the receptionist has to open it for you. Breakfast is from 6:30 to 9. There are 10 (I think) buildings with 8 rooms in them. You climb stairs to reach the upper level rooms. I didn’t notice any cleanliness issues like other older reviews mentioned, so maybe things have changed. For our one night stay, our suite was acceptable, and we would stay there again (but would bring our own ice).

"A relax holiday stay of a mom with two big kids"

10.0

Location, close to an Amtrak train station. Layout, each townhouses are spaced out. Very quiet at night,as away from road. Breakfasts are warm with enough variety. Rooms are clean well maintained with full kitchen.

Basically nothing. Maybe HVAC could be a bit noisy at night. Door “do not disturb “ sign keeps getting blow away to the ground from our second floor apartment room.

The privacy

The hard to open doors. I had bug bites after my stay. Hotel room was very dated and not very insulated.

"Be prepared to greatly lessen your expectation of what a Presidential Suite is supposed to be like."

2.0

I liked the location, the quiet, the mattress, and the price.

I didn't like how Booking.com did not mention the $250 deposit for presidential suite weekends. This room was NOT a presidential suite. Its just bigger than regular suites but there was nothing presidential about it. The rooms smelled horrible like old urine and mildew, made us want to vomit. There are not enough trash cans, There is not enough seating or chairs, The trash cans were small for the size of the room and size of the kitchen. The lamp shades were stained with brown water stains. The doors and walls needed painting and obvious dents removed. The leather was torn and ripped in the seat of the desk chair in the main bedroom (that was tacky as all get out). The fridge leaked inside. The ice maker was not turned on prior to our arrival. Huge puddles of water flood the walkways and entry ways to the rooms after a hard rain. Not enough employees to handle guests needs.
