The Desoto Savannah

We arrived a bit early and was charged an additional $50 for a room that was ready . It felt like an unfriendly welcome to the hotel. Then the room 909 had a broken toilet so I had to call to have it fixed and then the air conditioner was stuck at 72 degrees, which is too cold for me. The garbage can (picture attached) at the pool was completely full and the bathroom at the pool was dirty. Not a place I'd stay again.

The pros: The hotel is nice. The location is a nice walk from many squares, restaurants and the River Walk. The hotel bar tenders were very accommodating and friendly. The food at the hotel restaurant was excellent, as was the service. The cons: The bathroom is tiny. The pool was closed 2 of the 4 days I was there. The pool bar wasn't open yet. Shortly after I checked out (less than 30 minutes) I realized that I left my travel cup in the room. I messaged the hotel to see if it could be shipped to the address on my reservation and changed to the card on my reservation. I was told they would reach out to HK. And I never heard back.

The location is perfect and central to everything. The pool area is very nice as well. The hotel and rooms are not as upscale as I had anticipated and hoped for. Run down would be how I would describe it. Details like not having glasses or an ice bucket in the room seemed odd. The door to the patio was so rotted it didn’t open, which was a shame. The valet staff were so happy and pleasant every time we saw them.

We have traveled all over the United States all over the Caribbean the De Soto hotel has surpassed all our expectations. It has been fantastic!!! The staff goes above and beyond! FiFi who's in charge of housekeeping asked if there's anything we needed. My husband said yeah we could use a refrigerator. She said you'll have it and within two hours we did!! Scott, The bartender at pool is the friendliest happiest guy! He can make any drink and makes you feel like an old friend!! Frankie and the man crew go above and beyond to help you.

The Hotel is in a beautiful area in the historic district and not too far from many of the sites including the Riverfront. When you walk in to the hotel you can see the beauty of the architecture. The room was clean and neat and we had a view of the pool. The beds were comfortable and the pillows were great. The room size was okay for 2 people but small if you had more in the room. No additional comfortable seating was available in the room, just a desk chair. The value was average. We were located just one room back from the elevator which unfortunately, I had requested to not be near the elevator because of noise and that request was not granted. That being said, the room was fairly quiet although we were there mid week and I would imagine that the noise level may have been more on the weekend. The service was fine, when we requested more towels, they were delivered promptly. We did notice one evening that there was a definite smell of marijuana coming through the vents. It was short lived but when we brought it to the attention of the front desk, there was no urgency or apologies and it surely didn't seem like anything was going to even be looked into. Thankfully, we only noticed it that one time while we were there. My only real complaint though was the valet parking. The hotel does not offer parking for guests unless you do the valet parking for $51 - $54 per night! I think this is quite costly. When adding this nightly cost into the cost of the room, you are now paying a hefty nightly fee for an average hotel room. We were able to get a 2 day parking permit for street parking for anywhere in the city for just $24 for the 48 hours. It worked out perfectly. You just need to be aware of when the street sweeping times are so that you don't get towed. All that being said and now that I know the parking secrets, I would consider staying at the DeSoto again. Oh, and the restaurant staff were incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable about the history of the hotel and the area. The food was also very good.

Good location very expensive car parking overnite $55 for just the car , and no breakfast included. Hotel stay is a lot as well premium Prices , rooms are good clean and neat.

The only bright spot was the valet crew especially Gio. Check in and check out associates not welcoming nor friendly. When my family tried to inform them of valid concerns, they were all told at different times, no management available to speak with them. Our families were there for a conference and we had 3 rooms. All not upto 4 star standards. Our room was not clean, shower full of mold and safe not working. We had no problems with the location but it can be very loud both inside and outside of hotel. I would stay elsewhere. Pool bar was open but we all received liquid pina coladas, not frozen or even icy. They had an odd taste also, maybe the mix. When we asked to have them removed from bill, they refused. All pool furniture was dirty and not enough chairs. Very disappointed.

My wife and I like the room service every day. Fresh towels were great and bed made. Also the pool was fantastic in this weather .

DJ, Geo, and the morning valet crew did amazing and they are all so sweet!

I appreciate how comfortable and professional the DeSoto was. The conference accommodations were especially wonderful; fantastic food and service.
