HM Grand Central Hotel

The hotel is in a good area, a short tuk tuk ride away from the key points in Phnom Pehn.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS, We booked and paid for two nights to stay here - on arrival the receptionist told us we had breakfast included and showed us were to go in the morning, we then went to breakfast in the morning (not a breakfast person) so we only went because we were told that it was included. Half way through eating our breakfast, a staff member comes over and tell us we have to pay extra for the breakfast. To our surprise (why they didn’t tell us or make sure they provided the correct information to their clients) we asked to speak to a manager, we went to our room quickly got ready for the day and then we waited in the reception for over 25 minutes for 4/5 staff members standing at the desk - also behaving as though we were criminals. I was staying with my elderly mother, who has been travelling round with me. We have stayed at 15 hotels over the last few weeks and never have we been treated in this manner. Whilst getting ready they harassed us calling our room phone, three times saying they needed us to sign something and said they will come up to our room, after we had already explained we would be down shortly. After being told we were lying and that we definitely not entitled to breakfast by the member of staff that didn’t check us in, we reluctantly offered to pay. Following another 10 minutes waiting, we decided we really needed to get on with our day and one of the 5 members of staff said you come back later. Bearing in mind we had fully paid for our room and paid a $50 deposit - on our return to the hotel after a full day exploring Phnom Penh we returned to find our room had not been made and after having a shower, we received another phone call from reception telling us we had to leave and find somewhere else to stay!!!!! So late at night we were packing and trying to find an alternative accommodation. Absolutely disgusting and I can say I have stayed in many hotels with work as a professional and for pleasure and I HAVE NEVER EVER EVER been treated like this. They truly behaved as if we were criminals. This was extremely distressing for myself and my mother and completely outrageous. We are yet to receive our deposit back and we paid for 2 nights to stay - please do not stay here! The staff members actually laughed as my mother left in tears….

In general, the facilities are reasonable and room are clean. However, hotel not flexible for even extension of 0.5 hr on check out time and staff seem to constantly change her position. This is the only hotel that I ever encountered such strict restriction

The room we had was very spacious and well equipped. There was space for all our stuff. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The staff were very helpful with getting us signed up for tours and general information about getting around. I am not sure whether there was a special event on or it was to do with the Water Festival but for two nights there was very loud disco music playing until midnight from one of the surrounding buildings. It was so loud our windows vibrated. We are vegetarians and there were not very many hot dishes available in the breakfast buffet that worked for us.

Great value for money. Room was spacious and clean. Staff were excellent. Area was safe and quiet. Nice pool area and gym was spacious but needed some maintenance and a/C. Many steps up to hotel front door could be an issue for some people. It's walkable to the markets and royal palace but only a cheap tuktuk ride otherwise. I highly recommend this hotel. I would have no hesitation to return here.

Great value for money hotel in convenient location. Walkable to the royal palace and the shopping markets. Nice spacious room with all the amenities in great order. Nice pool area. Great friendly helpful staff. I would have no hesitation in returning to this hotel.

Everything was fine. There was nothing particularly special or extraordinary about the property. I was a little upset that after a stay of 13 or 14 nights in this hotel they refused to allow my wife to check out 30 minutes late the morning following my departure. Their breakfast buffet was average and I thought it was a little overpriced. Nice restaurants in the area charge less and have a much better selection.

This hotel has lots of facilities, pool, gym, spa pool, cafe, roof top bar It’s a bit run down, needs some maintenance But was cheap, very good value Room was good Staff, some good, some need more training Lots of improvements could be done so simply The bar was empty, the staff member watching tv, they didn’t like being helpful, we got ice every day, it seemed a chore

Enjoyed a week long stay here, and really enjoyed our trip: We are at the start of our travels through Asia, and the hotel was great. Clean, spacious room, with everything you need. Hotel is clean and staff are friendly and very helpful. Hotel has everything you need, including a peaceful little rooftop pool AND it’s very own sky bar and lounge. Food is good and there are plenty options for both food and beverage. There is a huge selection for breakfast. Location is excellent. I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again!

Great hotel, with nice pool. Roms clean and comfy. Close to most places.
