The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe

Classic inn in a beautiful setting and quiet town. Short drive to beach and local attractions.

The customer service at this hotel is terrible. I will never return, and I warn others to avoid it. The hostess at the main restaurant Lillian's provided the worst customer experience imaginable on two days in a row (after a terrible first experience, we only returned on day 2 as there was nowhere else to go). We arrived at the hostess counter, and there is noone else waiting. The restaurant is almost empty, and she won't seat us because "reservations are about to arrive." We say we called the restaurant to check we did not need a booking and that we were guests of the hotel, and she continues to refuse to seat us. We walk past her and sit in the bar instead and order from a small bar menu. Beware if you see someone at the counter who is petite with long dyed blond hair. The same thing happened on day 2. I also had terrible customer service from the sales people answering the phone.... wish I had stayed at another town.... but it was good to learn that the town of Rancho Santa Fe has nothing to offer as we were thinking of moving to the area and now we will not.

Pros: The Valet and Front Desk staff were friendly. The room was clean and quiet. Cons: You have to use Valet and walk quite a ways to get to your room. It was raining, so not appreciated. The pillows were terrible! We were awake all night trying to sleep on them. The room had a very small desk and chair, no other seating in the room for you to eat or watch TV. Most rooms have at least 2 people occupy the room. Not a well thought out room design. The upgraded Toto toilet keep flushing by itself the entire time. Not an upgrade if it is annoying. The coffee choice was a Nespresso machine which was not a good cup of coffee. I am sure for the money if it was not raining the grounds would be nice. However we did not get to enjoy them.

I planned a 4-day business retreat for a group of 30 people at The Inn, and I would rate it a 125 on a scale of 1-100, that's how amazing it was!!!! The property is unbelievably beautiful, the service impeccable, the food amazing, the rooms are gorgeous! My group LOVED IT so much. I would highly recommend!!!! What a find, everyone on my team was so delighted!! Simply incredible!

I couldn’t rave about our experience more at the Inn. The Inn is a beautiful spot convenient to, but away from the hectic nature of coastal San Diego. Every luxurious amenity was provided for our comfort. Tamara (at the front desk) was exceptional. Her care and concern was evident in every detail. I can not wait to return!

Beds are stiff, the pillows are very flat for my liking. the staff is very polite and kind and the area is very quite and peaceful. i would say this is a hotel for couples or couples with pets but not if you have kids, solely because there is not much to do at this hotel for kids and its 15 minutes inland from Salona beach on a winding road. If go on a weekend there is a cars n coffee on Saturdays.

The Inn at Rancho Sante Fe is a beautiful property with a rich history. It's old school elegant with a charm that few hotels or resorts can match. So you'd think that with such an amazing property you'd get a service staff to match, right? Unfortunately, from the moment we showed up to literally the final minutes of our departure the staff nickeled and dimed our patience with annoying mishaps, mistakes and downright rudeness. From the check-in with the valet, to the wrong order to dinner to the several knocks on the door from housekeeping (?!!) to getting the wrong kind of milk for our coffee (5 times with 5 different servers!!!), it was a continuous comedy role poor service. This property needs an all-star hotel manager. The left hand never knew what the right hand was doing. It was palpable throughout. For the price of $165 per person for the Valentine's Day dinner, the food was only OK. We'll be back only because of the gorgeous rooms and property - not because of the service or guest experience.

Was an updated room but there was no heat source available in the bathroom. Very cold and uncomfortable. Asked for a space heater, said they would get one. Never came, then they said they didn’t have one after all. Also, please get better fake logs for fireplace. The logs were just made of recycled paper and were cheap for such a high end hotel.

Beautiful and perfect for our anniversary weekend. Private and quiet. We kept the fireplace aglow all weekend. Bathroom with its rain shower and claw tub and marble floor was elegant. Room had a mission style feel. Bed was amazingly comfortable. Cleanliness top notch. Loved that you didn't have to call a valet for your car. We ate and drank locally but not at the hotel so I can't comment on that aspect.
