I had high hopes for this stay, but unfortunately the noise levels made it very difficult to enjoy. The walls seem incredibly thin, as we could hear almost everything from neighboring rooms—cell phones ringing early in the morning, dogs barking and whining, televisions, and even conversations. Noise from above was also very noticeable, and the sound of running showers was surprisingly loud. There are also large gaps under the doors, which lets in a lot of hallway noise, making it hard to relax or sleep undisturbed. If you're a light sleeper or looking for a restful night’s sleep, this may not be the best choice. That said, the location is a definite plus—within easy walking distance to restaurants, shopping, and the beach. However, considering the cost and the lack of sound insulation, I wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

No hand soap in bathroom

Good news first - the balcony glass wall was perfectly clean, and afforded terrific views. Also the overnight lighting that other reviewers complained about, now goes off around 10:15pm or so. Other than that not much was good. The Sandcastle charges $30/day for parking which is right in line with other hotels in the Pismo area that have a valet. No valets here! They should fire the decorator who did the room, as it looked like they couldn't decide what style to use: "Finnish Sauna" in the bathroom? "Retro" with the too-cute turquoise in-room fridge? "Southwestern" with the bedding? Speaking of bedding: there were bad bulky pillows, a mattress that sorely needed to be rotated, and a cheap scratchy blanket (yup, just one). Other reviewers have spoken about the bathroom, so I'll just say the designer for that must have been a drunk sadist! I've stayed in MANY of Pismo's hotels, and this was the worst and overrated of all.
