"I wanted to like this hotel, but I really can't."

2.0

Recently stayed here for 5 nights, let's chronicle my journey: - Day 1: The man who checks me in yells at me twice while I'm reading the document that I have to sign which is an agreement to pay. I find an error--the hotel is charging me for an additional night. He reluctantly changes my bill and gives it back to me to sign. I sign it and he THROWS the stapled papers against the back wall of his cubicle, letting them fall to the floor. He refuses to give me the wifi code. At 3:30am I have to call the front desk because I can't breathe due to heavy cigarette smoke and my neighboring room is playing music so loud that I'm singing along. - Day 2: Find out I was booked next door to a smoking room, (the rooms have an unused door between them) but those guests have now checked out so it "shouldn't be a problem". I say ok as I'm using eyedrops so I don't look as awful as I feel from not sleeping. - Day 3: I come back at around 9:30pm and my key doesn't work in my door. The attendant says they just had it fixed by a locksmith a few days ago and comes up with his keys. They don't work. He asks if I can wait until morning to get into my room. *Looooong pause* Absolutely not. He goes downstairs and gets a hammer and two metal spikes. We literally break into the room, destroying the door frame. It's now 11:30. This took 2 hours. I was there 2 more days but I'm running out of words, and it doesn't get better. Don't stay here. Seriously. It's not worth saving 20$ a night.

"Nice hotel at very reasonable price"

8.0

We were pleasantly surprised by the hotel and our room. The desk clerk was friendly and helpful He answered our questions and gave us a brief history of the building. .For starters, the hotel was only about three blocks from the light rail stop at Center Street. So if you fly into BWI during the day or early evening, you can save on taxi fare by taking the light rail. The room was pretty spacious and had charming decor. It was clean although the walls and plaster could use a new coat of paint. The bathroom looked as if it had been recently refurbished and was entirely adequate. There was a coffee maker and tea by the sink. Also a microwave and refrigerator. The four-poster bed was comfortable although I did not like the pillows that were too thick and firm. All in all, a nice stay and real good value for what we paid.

"Old but interesting, clea rooms."

6.0

Old building, clean rooms. Worth the value. TV preset at volume level so people with hearing problems can't adjust it or hear it. No breakfast -- very poor coffee put out on a sideboard in the common area. The breakfast was granola candy bars. No chance for toast and jam or a pastry.

"I wouldn't stay again"

4.0

So, the staff was very nice and helpful. The linens were clean and room seemed clean, but the carpets were badly stained and hotel needs updating. Bring your own soap, shampoo, etc as the room soap does not lather. The hot water cut out about 1/2 way through shower. I did sleep well though and the hotel was a good value.

"Nice, quirky hotel. Old fashioned."

6.0

I enjoyed my one week stay at the Biltmore. It was close to everything I wanted to be close to. It's in an old building, architectural details galore. It sort of reminded me of a 2 star hotel we stayed in when we went to Paris. Picturesque in a picturesque neighborhood. I was on the 4th floor, which was a climb as there is no elevator. The view was rooftops as well as the very tall Washington Monument, though the windows were rather dingy and there were many layers of paint on the woodwork. The room was clean and the staff friendly, though the bathroom ceiling had problems. If you like to stay at a Hilton or somewhere pristine this is not the hotel for you. If you are looking for quirky and don't mind climbing steps, it's fine.

"Central Location"

Really easy to access from the BWI and the light rail. Fascinating architecture and history of the building with many 'original' features. The welcome from some of the staff could do with a bit of improvement - some form of engagement at least.
