The Royal Sonesta Kaua'i Resort Lihue

Beautiful resort…big rooms, beautiful pool and nice restaurants. Only complaint is when you pay $400 plus a night I should get my room made up every day…not every other day.

We had a great stay! Was a lovely experience, lots of things to do within walking distance as well!

Bathroom seems like it's been recently updated. Extra visitors e.g. In total, 1 cockroach came into the room a night. Not sure if it is because we were on the first floor...but if you're squeamish about critters, beware. Extremely hard to find parking, the lot was full every night on the property.

Nice property with a large pool and multiple hot tubs. We really enjoyed the sushi restaurant

I booked and paid for an ocean view room, but the manager cheated us and put us in a pool view room instead—without even a simple apology. The dishonesty was shocking. On top of that, the environment was awful, and the room itself felt dirty and poorly maintained. Towels and bedding did not feel fresh or properly washed, which made the stay even more uncomfortable. This was hands down the worst experience I’ve ever had at a hotel. If you care about honesty, cleanliness, and basic respect, do not stay here.

It was our second time in Kauai and first time with a baby. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Royal Sonesta! We absolutely loved our view that included both the beach and pool area. Best night sleep with ocean wave sounds, natural white noise for our baby. The beach was awesome, super clean, soft and not too crowded. Their pool is the BEST in Hawaii!! Huge, clean, and included 5 jacuzzis as well as a kids pool. The poolside dining service was yummy, lots of options and super convenient (see attached pictures). The bar/restaurant (Kukui) was okay: great service, yummy food, but it didn’t feel like a restaurant. Most people were dressed casual and the menu was very simple, unlike for example, in Hualani’s (restaurant nearby). We wished there was a breakfast buffet available instead of only menu. We also didn’t like how room cleanings were every other day and not every day. It would get really dirty by the second day, especially with kids, but we really loved that the floors weren’t carpeted. Also, no laundry service, only self service in coin laundry located super far away in one of the towers. To sum up, this hotel can offer you a great vacation for its generally affordable price, with its nice location, private beach area and an amazing pool, clean facilities, fast service, convenient self parking and yummy food.

Beautiful! Very friendly staff, not overcrowded, easy and convenient walking trails to shop and eat! We absolutely loved staying there and can’t wait to make another vacation there!

This was our second time staying at the Royal Sonesta. We returned for a second year because of the great time we had the year before. The rooms are clean and comfortable. All of the staff throughout the hotel are helpful and friendly. The amenities are what makes us want to come back, from the Koi feeding that the kids can participate in to the large pool that can accommodate so many guests without feeling crowded. The view of the beach adds to the overall experience. This year a luau was added to the festivities provided by the hotel and it was a good one. It focused on the history of the area through fire dancing so it was different than most shows and definitely more exciting. We enjoyed the newly remodeled restaurant for breakfast and enjoyed walking to Dukes restaurant for dinner. The hotel is conveniently located especially to the airport. We hope to make this our yearly family vacation.
