Misleading check in time as didn't open until 5pm. Room was clean, bed comfortable for the 1 night we stayed. Had barely any toilet roll in bathroom. ( ensuite room) and ran out late in the evening but too tired to walk downstairs and round the entire building to ask for another as needed to leave early too. Sea view is a bit of a stretch statement, but is there just about! Young man at the bar was very nice and friendly but appeared to be on his own all night ( as was when we arrived and when arrived back after going out for a quick pint before bed). Shame no parking but the road doesn't charge between 6pm and 8am so only needed an hour but only takes coins. Would stay again.

These are rooms above the bar. Room 2 was quite spacious, and the bed was comfy enough, but the pillows were pretty thin and didn't really give any support. If you go in summer or when it's hot, keep.ypur curtains closed to reduce the heat - the room gets extremely warm and we had to open the window a bit (not a lot cos pidgeons get in) so boiling and then meant we got the noise from downstairs. Also got charged 1 nights cost when we arrived for some reason - no real info was given and we got this refunded once we queried it. - just watch for.this. Near the esplanades so where it's based is very good and about 30 mins walk along the beach to the harbour and main city centre. All in all a decent room for the price but i'll go somewhere with air con or a fan if heading this way aagin in summer.

Disappointed as my husband had a accident in the hotel as the people staying next to room six decided to play with the light switch and turn off the light my husband being of severe eyesight fall over and bump his head while going to the toilet so we are not very happy

Carpets in room thread bare, mould on callings in bathroom, in need of painting and very dated, would not advise anyone to stay here, ask to speak to property manager never available?

The stairs! Didnt realise that the property was so un-disabled friendly, no lift and at leastv4 flights of stairs to rooms. Jamie the bartender was very kind and lifted our suitcases up but once we were in the room we had to stay there and the inside of the room was so depressing sitting there!

No tea/coffee in room, cups and spoons were dirty from use. Neither shower on our floor was working - another guest told us one on the lower floor worked, the other on that floor was unusable due to a dreadful stench. I mentioned it the next day and politely suggested that they put a sign on the doors and informed new guests but nothing came of that. When booking, I had the option to say 'pay on arrival', but when I went to sort this, I was told that the card payment had gone through on the card number I had given when booking (I had intended to use a different method once I had arrived.) OK, none of this was too disasterous, but it was very disappointing. However, we had a big problem on our final morning - the keycode entrance suddenly stopped working, completely denying us access! Eventually another guest came down after sometime so I could get back in, cold and soaked. I tried phoning the contact numbers we had got from the website, one was not recognised, on the other one I could only leave an ansaphone message. This was never responded to. Pub opens at 3, so we had to pack up and go a lot earlier than planned so we could go and get some breakfast without fear of being stuck outside again. (When passing a couple of hours later, another man was at that door and failed to get entry. I spoke to him, he was an employee, he had tried to go in about an hour before and had gone home inbetween and he couldn't get in either time. I guess, like me, he couldn't get hold of anyone.)

On arrival we had a lovely member of staff carry our suitcases up 4 flights of stairs to our room. His name was Jamie and very helpful. On leaving about 9am i went and asked for a member of staff to carry the suit cases down the stairs as told be Jamie. The membee of staff was rude and saud there wasnt anyone until 11am. I said we had a hivercraft to get and couldn't wait till then and he said "I have shed loads to do before 11am". I explained that my partner is 77 years and we would have a problem and if he heard a loud bang it would be us having a accident. His reply was 'go careful then '. Whilst he was there telling us there was no one to help it would have taken him 2 minutes to carry them rather than us taking 20 minutes and being a health and safety issue!

A basic accommodation of which provided us somewhere to stay with a sea view. Ideal location close to town centre. No onsite parking, but managed to get a 24 hours parking permit from the hotel for £3 to park in any available parking space nearby. Bedrooms could do with some tlc with tv and kettle with brew kit provided. Shared bathroom facilities., with fresh towels and shared shower gel provided. Fantastic live band entertainment, which continued until midnight. Check in was between 2pm - 9pm, with check-out by 1200 (noon).

Jolly Sailor is a Lo-budget solution to a quick cheap stay in Portsmouth. Staff lovely & serves the purpose!

This was a great place to stay with amazing views of the sea visible from our room. The room was quite spacious as well and was cleaned to an appropriate standard. There is a cool bar below. The location is good as it is quite close to the coast and is good to relax or walk around with stations being 30 mins by walk. Overall, great place to stay and very good value for the money!
