The Jolly Sailor

Hmm, not an amazing place to stay. The window in the room only opened a fraction which on mega hot days made the room stifling. The bed was very comfortable though. Threadbare carpet with very squeaky floorboards thoughout. Mould in the bathroom with the most pitiful power shower in existence. Hundreds of stairs to reach the room with very ominous animal heads and loud fire doors that everyone banged at all hours. Separate entrance to the pub which was good. I wouldnt stay here again. To be honest, id rather pay a little extra and go to a premier inn or travel lodge. Which i will do next time.

loved it was just a stay to see family did the job

Unless I missed it, we could have done with an email detailing what to do for check in (go to the bar and speak to a member of staff - a little bewildering when the bar is very busy!). Really impressed however with the room for the price - property is right on the common and the room was well equipped, comfy, clean. Towels were provided and our room had a private bathroom with tea and coffee making facilities. Will be back. Thank you

The hotel room was basic but very clean and that was reflected in the price. I would stay there again in the future

Not keeen as lots of stairs and we were on the top floor, bathooms not so good showers rubbish bins not emptied and dirty bath mats taken away after use, a well used old building which had some character, girl behind bar helpful food very good

Rooms above a pub. Good price. A bit dated and worn but overall not bad. Great location. Only real complaint was the shower. No logical way of working it. To get any hot water you had to turn it to off!!! and then it might be hot for about 10 seconds but otherwise freezing.

Bonkers decor, but I rather liked that. Very friendly helpful staff. And I could see the sea from my bed! All for a bargain price. Magic.

On arrival i was met with a very helpful guy. He over my short stay seemed to be doing so much around the place my hat went off to him.⭐. The room was in an ok condition just a bit tired, i cleaned the surfaces of the dust and had to get the milk replaced as 2months out of date, and no stirrers. Take a teaspoon! I slept well, bed was fine. My disappointment overall was the shared bathroom not being cleaned. It's just those basics that would make it value for money. I must add the other staff members in the bar were great. If its just a base you need for a couple of nights then it might suit you fine.
