Hotel Casa Encantada

My stay included breakfast, which helped us start the day without having to think about it. The place is also pet-friendly, so we could travel as a pack and share a very comfortable room together.

The Wi-Fi could definitely be improved. I was travelling for work and it was very difficult for both me and the other travellers to get a stable connection. Parking outside the hotel was also somewhat challenging, as there are very few spaces available.

Hotel Casa Encantada sits in the middle of the historical and cultural center of Pátzcuaro, called Centro. You are 2 blocks away from Plaza Grande, where local families and tourists enjoy the abundant benches and shade. The amenities at this hotel are high quality. Potable water is provided in the room and hot water was abundant in your private bathroom. City noice is minimal and when you are in your room for the night, it is very quiet from 11 pm to 6:30 am. The room was decorated artistically, the air was fresh and the living environment was very clean. Lots of blankets were available. The bed I used was firm in a good way. Great nights sleep greeted me each day. All the rooms face two beautiful gardens that are filled with benches, tables and chairs. These areas are like minni art museums. The staff are very friendly and professional. A couple of the staff are fluent English speakers. It helps to have basic Spanish proficiency, but you can do just fine with a translating program on your phone, as I proved over my 6 visits to Patzquaro. The provided breakfasts are faboulus, Fresh fruit, eggs and sides provided a incredibly tasty start to the day and were not over filling. Daily cleaning services are provided. Gratuities for cleaning and cooking staff are encouraged by management and are shared amoung all in those departments. There is a staff person who is present on the site each night. I felt very safe at this hotel. Unlike more popular tourists areas in Mexico, you will find that most of the other tourists are Mexicans. There are plenty of great restaurants and food stands to keep you busy for many days. Getting to these eateries along with visting numerous shops and historical sites in Centro is easily done on foot. The newly rebuilt market provides fresh produce, meat and dairy products, clothing and crafts from the local area. To travel out of Centro the cab and combi systems works great. Visiting the number of fascinating communities surrounding Lake Patzcuaro is worth the adventure. Cabs and limited English speaking tours are available. The mountains and lakes provide hiking, biking and natural history experiences. The best reason to visit Patzquaro and stay at Hotel Casa Encantada is to meet the wonderful people of this area and learn about their history and current culture. Hotel Casa Encantada is the perfect place to center this adventure out of!

Everything was so tranquil and inviting. The breakfasts are delicious. We will go again!

This was our third stay at Casa Encantada, and we keep returning because it is perfect in every way. Location could not be better, the decor is beautiful, very comfortable rooms and beds, and best of all is the staff, Luis, Anny, and Samantha. It's all due to the owner and resident, Victoria, who makes this all happen.

From the moment we arrived the staff were welcoming, so friendly and helpful. They answered many of our questions and assisted with tours and any travel arrangements. Our room was so lovely; spacious, clean , beautifully decorated with special touches. We used the fireplace every day as room was chilly but warmed up quickly.

Lovely place and people, location- location, nice breakfast, spacious rooms. The weak spot is the internet, not ideal for working, sometimes not even good enough for browsing. parking spaces in front of the hotel are limited.

Casa Encantada is an oasis. We have been returning to it for the past few winters- the hotel and also the apartments. The place is beautiful, gorgeous art, great location, fabulous staff! The breakfast (included) is delicious! And the morning conversations and connections with other visitors delightful. The garden courtyard is a lush, peaceful place to relax and renew. Victoria Ryan has lived in Mexico for decades and is the perfect host to connect you to local highlights, restaurants, events. The hotel offers incredible massage and fabulous tour guides. Patzcuaro is a sweet and welcoming destination. I feel safer here than I do in the states. Even venturing out in the surrounding villages with a guide, I feel so comfortable. I'm frequently struck by the friendliness and warm welcome of people here.

A perfect stay: it feels like a former estate made up of lush courtyards, and all spaces inside & out, filled with authentic cool Mexican trappings, artwork, or gardens. Amazing value; fun/devoted staff & owner; no better location; this hotel makes you excited to be returning to it after every venture day or night.
