"Great hotel"

The hotel is in a great area, close to tourist attractions with lots of stores, restaurants and I never felt unsafe. The bus and metro are a block away for easy transportation. From the moment we walked in we felt welcomed. Everyone at the reception was very cordial and helpful. The room was a good size, the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was very clean with a great tub with awesome water pressure. The area was quiet, we were able to sleep perfectly. Next day we had breakfast at the restaurant and it was delicious. I had the buffet which had amazing croissants, My husband had the French toast brioche and he loved it. Our waiter was the best. His name is Eligio, his service was very exceptional. He suggested the French toast, he brought all the food quickly and took care of us efficiently. He was cordial, professional and friendly. We stayed at the hotel for three days and we loved it. The location, service and price were great. We will definitely come back.

"Just Lovely"

Stayed at Taj Campton Place and had a wonderful experience. The staff were genuinely warm, attentive, and incredibly helpful at every turn. The food was outstanding—truly a highlight—and the room was beautiful, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. A lovely place to stay in the heart of the city.

"Terrible, Terrible Service STAY AWAY"

I don't go out of my way to post reviews, but my experience with the service at this hotel has really left a sour taste on my mouth and wanting to share this as a cautionary tale for others. While my visit here started off fine, it went downhill when I requested for laundry service. When my clothes came back, one of my pants were missing. When I called the front desk to ask if they can check for it, I was met with disrespect from both the front desk and the laundry service manager. I tried to navigate this situation as cordially as I could, but both front desk and laundry manager tried to gaslight me that I lost my own pants and that it wasn't their fault. I had to continually follow up with them on the status of my pants. Lo and behold, I get a call back later that they did find my missing pants in the laundry room. This incident was extremely infuriating. The lack of accountability here and the way the staff tried to blame me for losing my pants was very unprofessional and I do not wish this service upon anyone else. I do not recommend staying here period, this is the worst service I've ever had to deal with and I travel often. I have to travel to SF from NYC for work often and this hotel is definitely on my blacklist to never come back to again. Their apology after realizing they did indeed lose my pants was very half assed and I am very disappointed that I chose this hotel for my 2 week stay. Stay away from here if you don't want to deal with immature and rude staff.

"Exceptional"

Great location, right across from Union Square. I was in a corner room on the 15th floor which was quiet and had a wonderful view of the city and sunrises.

There are still a lot of unhoused people outside. It is better than it was a couple of years ago but still can be a little much when leaving the facility.

"Aging gracelessly..."

If one is accustomed to the level of service and excellence of the Taj properties in India, the properties abroad (I've stayed at the properties in Cape Town, San Francisco and London this year) will disappoint. Each of the hotels was in need of capital renovations and the customer service was subpar. In the instance of the Taj Campton Place in San Francisco, the negative interactions started before check-in. I wrote to the hotel informing them of my arrival time and NeuPass Gold Tier status (now Platinum). I did not receive a response. Despite making the reservation on the Taj app and writing in advance, my NeuPass account was not tied to the reservation and they only upgraded (?) the room upon my insistence on arrival. The room they gave me was just above street level on a floor shared with conference facilities. No local amenity was offered. The lifts were only working intermittently, the card scan system both in the lifts and for room access seemed to fail 80% of the time. The shower was combined with a raised bathtub in my room. One had to step over a two foot barrier (I'm surprised this is permitted by code.) to enter the tub in order to shower and then the shower head is below the level of one's head. Further, despite confirming twice that my NeuPass account was associated with my reservation (and despite making the reservation through the Taj app while logged into my account!) the hotel failed to submit my stay for NeuPass credits. I did not eat there because I did not trust that the quality of the food would be acceptable. Absurdly, the hotel charges a $30 amenities fee, I'm not sure what for as the basics were not adequate, much less the amenities. I'm sad to say I don't think this hotel should be part of the Taj portfolio. It lessens the Taj brand value to have such poor examples of the brand outside of India.
