Westmark Fairbanks Hotel and Conference Center

From the moment we arrived, it was clear this property was not being properly maintained. The damaged door jamb to our room, which appeared to have been forced open at some point, created a poor first impression. Unfortunately, things only got worse. We found hair in one of the beds, a blood stain on the table leg, and mould around the bath and floor. The room felt dirty and unhygienic, which was both disappointing and unpleasant. Adding to the concerns, the bed frames had sharp metal pieces protruding at shin height. These were difficult to see and we struck them multiple times during our stay. Not only was this painful, but it presented a genuine safety hazard that should have been addressed previously. The air conditioner was extremely noisy, sounding like a plane taking off, and was difficult to regulate. The walls were so thin that we could clearly hear conversations and even the person next door using the bathroom, making it almost impossible to relax. The dining experience was equally disappointing. We waited over 90 minutes for our meal, while the staff appeared overwhelmed and understaffed. Overall, the entire property felt tired, neglected, and in desperate need of major renovation. I was genuinely disgusted by the condition of the room, the lack of cleanliness, and the apparent disregard for basic guest safety. This is advertised as a 3-star property, but based on our experience, even a 1-star rating would be generous.

Filth. Gross showers and floors throughout the entirety of the hotel. Dirty walls and air vents. Worst shower. The executives of Holland America should take a road trip and check out what customers are experiencing. The staff are not well trained. Not empowered. The hotel and entire experience was a hot mess. Do not recommend. Repeat. Do not recommend.

A very accommodating clean and the staff was phenomenal. Excellent customer service.

Breakfast was delicious, would have been amazing if there were breakfast sausage or links, not just bacon. Loved the new night light in the bathroom Location, within walking distance to several restaurants and attractions. Downtown shuttle service was awesome, great way to explore the city. The water fountain to refill our bottles, the clean laundry room with high quality washers, coin and detergent dispensers, day room with a computer and microwaves, two restaurants.

To be able to open the window in the room. The lights in the hallways were too bright. Bright light was coming under the door. The curtains didn’t really block the bright light, light was coming from above the curtain rod Wish there were night lights in the hallways

Location of the westmark hotel was the best area to be downtown Fairbanks in the heart of the city.

I confirmed my second night stay and I didn't have the space available to on my credit card ( because of my prior night stay on separate reservation) . This is the result of Westmark hotel capturing a deposit for "incidental " necessities and after my first night stay upon checking out, I have to wait 6-10 days to be able to use the refunded amount....I'm not feeling good about what happened today!

The place is a failed convention center and is a dump. Our room had a fire alarm hanging from the ceiling and the hair dryer pulled out of the wall. See photos.

The service at the hotel was terrible. From the staff at the front desk who were most unuseful, to the room cleaners who never showed up to the buffet staff who were unavailable and rude.
