Red Lion Hotel Coos Bay

No breakfast. Room smelled badly. No wifi.

Nothing!

Room was not clean. Bed and couch were worn out. Bathtubs had no stopper. Carpet was stained. Room had a musty odor.

It was easy getting on and off of the highway to enter the motel parking area. The motel is centrally located for most of the area's attractions. The staff tried to mitigate the problems that came up but they didn't seem to have the authority or sufficient staff to address everything.

When we arrived, we were quickly provided two adjacent rooms. One of the rooms was unremarkable in a good way. When we opened the door to the other room it appeared to be occupied. The bed looked like someone just jumped out of it to take a shower. The rest of the room looked like it was used for a teenager's unsupervised week-long retreat. I returned to the check-in building to let them know about the room. The clerk at the desk offered to go clean the room if I could wait 10-minutes or if I wanted to, I could upgrade my room (seemingly at my expense). My immediate thought was that it couldn't be cleaned in that short amount of time. Fortunately, another employee spoke up and said, "Just upgrade them". There was more discussion between them that indicated they were dealing with some frustrations, but they were careful to ensure no negative energy was directed toward me. They "upgraded" the room at their expense to a double queen room - didn't need it, didn't want it, but it was what they had. We went into the room and were immediately hit with a musty smell. We left the door open for a while, and it helped. The room furnishings complemented the smell. There was an old Naugahyde wrapped chair with the corner ripped up as if it fell out of a moving truck and, to be fair, a reasonably comfortable desk chair. The mattress was terrible. When I turned on the two switches that sank into a cracked panel on the outside of the bathroom, there was light, but no vent came on inside the bathroom. The thick condensation on the mirror after my shower the next morning confirmed there was no other ventilation. Someone left a half pot a pot of coffee (from the last time the room was rented out). I'm not sure how it got there since the pot didn't work when I turned it on. No microwave or fridge. The experience was topped off by finding someone else's dirty sock behind the door on the way out.

Breakfast consisted of Walmart granola bars, yogurt and bottles of water.

Was not asked for ID at check in. No privacy curtains, just blackout drapes. No bars to assist in/out of shower. Fixture around shower head and light broken. Door to room had a gap and just a fold over security mechanism.

Convenient location. Staff was accommodating

Hotel old. Room not clean. Strong smell of mold. Fan air unit not working. Staff could not provide a fan to help smell. Put in a room that we did not ask for because staff said it was all he had, even though I made reservations 3 months ago. And breakfast? Frozen burritos and frozen egg sandwich available.

Easy to find, bed was comfy, looks newly renovated.

The bathroom floor was dirty behind the door & the doorknob was very dirty. The fan in the bathroom was so LOUD! Spider webs on the sconces by the bed-disgusting. Front desk employee was less than friendly.
