My daughter & family did not feel safe.

Clean, comfortable room with some extra space to spread out a little. This place fills the bill for me. The front desk was pleasant and eager to please. I asked for some extra coffee for the room. No problem-O. Breakfast in the restaurant was very good. Generous portions served hot. Just the way you like it. The room had the most advanced microwave I’ve ever seen. It had two USB ports and a power outlet on the front of the unit. The room also had the oldest but still serviceable toilet seat I’ve ever seen. But it was CLEAN and no cracks. Bottom line: YES, I will stay here again.👍

I was terribly disappointed this facility. Service and cleanliness were nonexistent.

This hotel used to be the Red Lion; it's now called the Maverick. You can change the name, but the hotel is still old (30 years or older), and it smells like it, too. The entire hotel smelled old, even our room. Our room had carpeting, which is something we don't like. The toilet was extremely low. Our shower / tub provided bodywash and shampoo, but no conditioner. The pool was too cold. You would think a cool temperatured pool would feel good on a hot day, nope. This pool was so cold you couldn't stay in it for more than a minute. My husband jumped in the deep in thinking it would be nice and relaxing, nope. He got out as fast as he could. He said it wasn't relaxing at all; it was way too cold. Apparently, this hotel used to have a buffet, not anymore. The restaurant is across the street. We went across the street to check out the restaurant, and turned around and walked out. We drove to the Gold Dust West casino to have dinner at The Grille. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. For as big as this hotel is (222 rooms), it only has one set of elevators. This hotel is broken into segments, with a key pad to enter each segment closest to your room. However, all the keypads were taped up. Instead of entering near your room via the outdoor key pad, you have to walk all they way to the main entrance. For people who have mobility issues, this is a major inconvenience. The elevator is located down the main hall through two sets of manual doors (not ADA user-friendly). Our friends picked this hotel because it has a Starbucks inside. Elko is growing, offering more hotels much cleaner and newer than this one. If it's Starbucks, you enjoy going to, Albertsons has one inside the store.

convenient location

This hotel is badly in need of an update. Carpets and fixtures are easily 30 years old (recognized the fixtures we put in my dad's house in 1991!) We were given the wrong keys to a room that wasn't ready (beds still unchanged) then put in a room that had a funky smell. The sliding glass door barely moved, the tub was clogged, and when I told the front desk I wanted a functional shower, the lady responded, "Aren't you checking out tomorrow?" (No one unclogged the shower.) The place was mostly empty, and that should have been a red flag. Unless this place gets renovated and/or new management, stay elsewhere.

The room was very outdated. Carpet was filthy. Holes in the ceiling. Pool was freezing! Couldn't even swim. All the games at the arcade were either broken or the claws in the machines were so loose it wouldn't hold onto anything. The bed was clean and comfortable.
