I politely told the staff member that the coffee creamer was out one morning at breakfast and she acted as if I was bothering her. It made me feel so bad.

"Not great at all"

6.0

On first arrival there was a line of ‘homeless’ men sitting just to the left of the door on Cardolet. It’s pretty unsettling. There was a large group across the street as well. They didn’t seem to bother anyone but not a great first impression. In fact, we almost didn’t get out of the car and went somewhere else. The valet system isn’t great. $50+ a night and not very snappy. Twice I texted the number given to get my car and there was ‘no one available’ to retrieve my car. Our room 1408 was on first inspection fantastic. It is a huge suite with 2 bathrooms. Really spacious and ‘nice’. Come to find the refrigerator didn’t work. We put drinks in it that never got cold. Not even cool. At the end of the 2nd day the display on the air conditioning controls went dark. It seemed to still be somewhat working, but not great, and now, no way to adjust. Then the kicker. Our last night at 12:30a we are all awakened by what sounds like an alarm clock from an adjoining room. After several minutes I went in the hall and it was much louder. I called down to the desk and asked if they could send someone up to the 14th floor to investigate and she said she would. 20 min of beeping later it was obvious nothing was being done so I went to investigate. Come to find it was the ice machine a couple doors down. There was some kind of alarm going off and It was super loud. I went down to the front desk and asked if anyone was coming to help and she once again said she would send someone. I went back upstairs and waited in the hall. Another 20 min and no one. So I called down again. The clerk explained very shortly that it was just her, a security guard and a valet person and she didn’t know what I wanted her to do about it. I was dumbfounded. I asked for a manager. No management was on site. She also said no maintenance was onsite until the next morning, and I was just out of luck. I told her I found it impossible to believe that there are no policies or procedures in place for after hours maintenance issues and she assured me that there wasn’t and there was no one she could call and we would have to deal with it until the morning. An older gentleman (a security guard) came up and he basically said ‘Yep it’s beeping’ and ‘I’m not an ice machine man’ and left. I was not happy. At all. The front desk clerk was put in a really bad position. She was not given the tools to help out, but she also could have handled it much better. She got very snippy and I probably did too. After all, I am spending $400 a night for a hotel room that just doesn’t seem worth it. So we just put pillows over our heads and tried to ignore it as best we could. Finally around 3:30a it stopped. When I came out the next morning the machine had been unplugged (something I wanted to do the night before but was told I could not do) Listen, this hotel is in a pretty good location near the French Quarter and we found exiting thru the attached office building keeps you away from the riff raff on Cardolet. But I’m sure you can see from these experiences that there is not way I can recommend this hotel.

"Our encore trip to New Orleans"

10.0

This was our second stay this property. We like the location, the quality of the facilities, and the breakfast. Just steps away from Canal Street, we could walk to any of our desired destinations in the French Quarter. Another advantage if you don't want to use valet parking is that there are two self-service garages nearby. Both CVS and Walgreens are also near for any basic needs. Riding the streetcars is also easy from this location with boarding of the St. Charles line right at the corner of Carondelet and Canal.
