The Ritz-Carlton Hotel de la Paix, Geneva

Excellent staff and dining room food. Great location. Room size was great but electric in our room kept kicking off. Had to have the technician come in twice because A/C and TV and electricity in room would stop working. Very frustrating. Looks like bathroom was remodel but the layout odd. The shower stall not sturdy. The door would not close well and leak water. The design where toilet in room with closet without a sink was odd and ridiculous. After using toilet need to walk around through room and into bathroom to wash hands.

Nestled on the banks of Lake Geneva is a gem of a hotel - The Ritz-Carlton Hotel de la Paix. It is a luxury hotel in every sense of the word. Here, modern design blends seamlessly with old world charm. The staff and its general manager, Antoni, will meticulously see to your every need. You will leave feeling pampered and rested. A must stay!!! Central to everything. Did I mention the steam showers?

We visited the Hotel De La Paix as recommended by a friend, and visited an Italian restaurant named Living Room. We ordered pea soup, salad, and a Margherita pizza. The order took 1 hour and 30 minutes to arrive. The pea soup was extremely cold, it was meant to be warm. The salad we ordered had boiled egg. And the other salad we ordered had Caviar when we literally specified to the waiter that we are vegetarians who eat no meat, no caviar, no egg, no non veg. We could only have the pea soup, yet it was so cold. And yet they charged us 261 Swiss franches. We told the waiter that we were going to get up and only pay the amount we ate for, yet they charged us for the full things. And since we said "You have to charge us for the things that we have eaten". We also said "We will walk away as we can't wait for so long" . And then a waiter came and said "I'll call the police". We also went with a local friend of ours, and even he was astonished about this service, normally they give you the food in 20-25 mins. This experience was unbelievable, and totally unacceptable!

Rarely do I write a review in the middle of a stay, but this is warranted. This Ritz Carlton is the smallest in the world but is tops in the world in service. From the moment a driver met me at the Geneva airport to now, everything has been perfect. I was upgraded to a garden suite and while no view of the lake, the view was lovely. Large king bed, wonderful bathroom, good lighting, excellent workspace. My dinner in the bar with Alex (Caesar salad but like a Cobb salad) was perfect. And oh! The old fashioned! You must have it. Upon my arrival greeted by many, including the general manager, Anthony. Directions to shops were helpful. It was a perfect 30 hour stay. I will be back next year!

The location was lovely, however the foyer and breakfast areas (including the menu) were small and underwhelming. The hallways and furnishings were outdated and sparse. The room was more modernised and comfortable but mismatching (refurbished) not in keeping with the remainder of the hotel.

The service staff are young and inexperienced. Issues were not resolved promptly.

This hotel is wonderful, rooms are comfortable and everything is lovely and close by. The service is 10/10. Remi at the Living Room is one of the better persons I have met at any luxury hotel and we will come back just for him. We have stayed at a bunch of nice hotels but the service at this one is one of the better.
