Roc Luxe Tulum

DO NOT STAY HERE. I booked this property for a week over Christmas and was beyond horrified when I arrived. One previous review compared the property to "glamping", but there is nothing glamorous about this place. It's actually worse than actual camping. The cute little grass huts on the resorts expedia page are quite limited. The rest of the property is across the highway in the jungle, it's absolutely terrifying. The majority of the "huts" consist of a bed, a broken safe, 1 lightbulb hanging from the ceiling, no bathroom mirrors, and little to no running water. It is out of this world how horrible it is. The resort also reeks of human feces due to inadequate plumbing, and trash removal. The resort promotes "free breakfast" for every room but in fact there is no breakfast served on the property, nor any other amenities. The beach is equipped with a total of TWO chairs, and the staff is incredibly unhelpful. STAY AWAY.

Do not book this hotel when we arrived we were told we were staying a drive away NOT on the beach. When we asked to see the room we were told we couldn’t as it wasn’t ready. After waiting 4 hours we were told there was no water in the room and had to find another hotel. It’s a complete con do not book.

We had an amazing stay!! This hotel has the best service, placed in such a good area and the breakfast included is on top! The beach is so beautiful and the rooms at the hotel are outstanding! Only thing we missed was the option to rent bikes at the hotel.. There is a place nearby though that offer bike rentals.

The room was beautiful and right on the beach. The worst thing about our stay was that we selected the “pay later” option, and were charged before checking in. They charged a card I didn’t want to use then basically refused to switch the payment to my other card, when asked. I was pretty put off by the fact they wouldn’t do it, not because they couldn’t do it! The guy at the desk just didn’t want to do it. Overall, I’m not sure we will be coming back. Plenty of other nice hotels on the beach.

It was my first visit to Tulum and I choose this unique hotel without much prior experience except relying on online reviews. It was a great decision. The electricity and hot shower and water and most importantly the AC was working non -stop in the extreme humid August month — after reading that a lot of hotels in Tulum offer non ACd rooms with some electricity for only limited time. At this hotel, everything was working properly and I was able to enjoy charging my camera and stuff and staying cool in the extreme hot daytime I loved how secluded the hotel was and felt like in the nature ( jungle like feel plus direct ocean view and access. The location was not far from some activities and shops (within walking distance). Beautifully designed rooms, amazingly comfortable big bed, soft bed sheet, color,decor, OMG the outdoor hot shower (the water is bit salty, but it is tolerable) under the sky, blue sky and night starts or anytime available! natural and eco feel of the entire place — all were spectacular and serene. And the hotel is right on the white sand beach. The whole staff was very kind, genuinely friendly, very kind people! I had an important request and room type upgrade, and they all kindly worked hard to make the guest most happy ! I am very grateful to all of them that they put into a very nice room!!!!!!! Thank you so much! the hotel staff! for their amazing service and their beautiful smiles everyday. I would highly recommend this hotel

First off, I want to say that the staff at this property was excellent. My overall rating is based on the property itself. The huts looked beautiful, but there were definitely flaws. I stayed in the hut right next to the lobby, and there was virtually NO NATURAL LIGHT. I could not see anything in the bathroom as it was so dark and dungeon like. This hut was right in the middle were people would walk by, so opening the blinds was out of the questions as you can see everything. So even though the front had natural light if you opened the curtains, you couldn't do it as staff and people could see right through, providing no privacy whatsoever. 2nd, they charged a resort fee when it wasn't really a resort. The restaurant was not open and when they did prepare food for me, only 3 items were available on the entire menu. Why advertise a restaurant if there really is no food. They didn't even have the basic guacamole and chips. My tiny meal was also insanely expensive at almost $70. A lot of hotels charge a 15% gratuity and THEN ANOTHER gratuity on top. It is ridiculous. Going back to the hotel itself, I know this is an eco hotel, but I paid a little extra for the AC and the more boutique feel. There are TONS of eco lodges on the beach for much less. My hut had so many holes in the thatch roofing that I had bugs come inside. I had a bug crawl on me the second night. They need mosquito nets, as I was bitten every night. For the price, I would not come back.

It is a cute hut, but there are some flaws. First, this unit needs a mosquito net. Second, the restaurant advertised was a non functioning restaurant. virtualy no food available. The staff was extra friendly which is a plus, but the hotel itself needs sprucing up. Patch up the thatch roofing so critters do not come in. And since there are open holes on the roof, provide a mosquito net as we had critters and bugs on the bed. No natural light in the bathroom, and the light provided was very dark. For the price, go with a different option.

Very clean and quiet relaxing place. Definitely recommend it if you want a relaxing place
