Anasa Wellness Resort

The staff at Anasa were the most kind, lovely people. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and at home during the floods in Sri Lanka. The food was absolutely incredible - would highly recommend going to the restaurant even if you’re not staying there! The chalets were gorgeous with the most amazing views across the tea plantation - they also serve the tea grown there at the hotel which is such a great touch. The number of activities you can do at the resort also makes this place so unique in Sri Lanka - tennis, badminton, squash, billiards, mini golf, swimming… ! It is slightly further away from Ella so something to be aware of if you want to spend most of your time in Ella, but such a peaceful wellness retreat that my partner and I would highly recommend. Thank you to the staff for making our only night at the resort a fab one - you are all very kind.

You have to pay for the steam room and jacuzzi which isn’t the end of the world but feels a little expensive given the price of the rooms

The facilities are amazing! We were so impressed by the gym and the activities on site. The staff couldn’t do more for us if they tried, they simply made the experience outstanding. We did a cooking class on site and i highly recommend to try it! AND the food was out of this world! Everything is made fresh and produce is farmed on site! The chef’s went out of their way to made a Sri Lankan desert we mentioned we liked and the ice cream is homemade!!!! Unreal!

The resort is very comfortable and beautifully surrounded by nature, making it a perfect place to walk, relax, and just unwind. It’s a great option if you want to step away from everything and enjoy some “me time.” The food was incredible, and I especially loved the authentic Sri Lankan dinner. The staff members are so friendly. The tea selection was also amazing and definitely a highlight of my stay.

Getting to the property can be a bit challenging, though manageable. Once you’re there, it’s important to have reliable transport arranged. I had my own cab and driver who brought me from Kalametiya to the resort (a 3.5-hour drive for about USD $80, which I found reasonable). However, when I needed transport from the resort to Ella for a short night out, the fee was USD $65 for just a 35-minute round trip. Since my driver was not nearby, I had no choice but to accept. Later, when I arranged airport transfer with my own driver, the resort contacted him directly to say he shouldn’t have picked me up, insisting I should use their partnered taxi service (which was significantly more expensive). That felt unnecessary and unfair — as a guest, I should be free to choose my own transport without pressure. Lastly, being charged for something as small as a bottle of water felt surprising, especially at a resort that positions itself as premium.

Beautiful location and lovely chalet style accommodation. Staff were very attentive. We ate in both nights and food was plentiful and delicious. Highly recommended.

Toch viel de prijs-kwaliteitverhouding erg tegen. Overal zijn goedkope materialen gebruikt, van de trappen, paden tot aan de vloeren en de kranen, en dat zie je overal terug in de afwerking. Er wordt geen alcohol geserveerd, en zelfs op je eigen kamer mag je dit niet nuttigen. Dat staat nergens duidelijk vermeld. Dat voelt vreemd, zeker omdat je in een hotel juist eigen vrijheid mag verwachten. Het zwembad is klein en grotendeels overdekt, wat teleurstellend was. Ook was er geen yoga-instructeur aanwezig, terwijl het resort zich wel als wellness-bestemming presenteert. Uiteten in Ella kost anderhalf uur reistijd over slechte weg.
