Holiday Inn Express Chicago - Magnificent Mile by IHG

Staff was great. Room was clean. The free breakfast is ok. Location is close enough to all the touristy stuff.

I only have one major complaint. I had a room on the east side of the building. I do not know where it came from, or what it is for, but there is an alarm/siren that goes off ALL THE TIME at all hours. I first thought it was a car alarm, but it was not. Sometimes it goes off for a few seconds, sometimes it is for 20 minutes. I don't know if it was from the building across the street, or what it was. It went off multiple times per hour, EVERY HOUR, during my entire stay. The room was cheap enough, but I would pay the extra amount to stay somewhere I don't have to listen to that.

The staff at front desk is outstanding. Especially Tatiana, and her associate. They adjusted our 3rd party booking like true professionals.

Camera un po' piccolina, ma comunque per noi andava benissimo. Personale gentilissimo, disponibile e preparato. Avevamo bisogno del check in anticipato e la ragazza alla reception ci ha dato una camera già pronta. Wow, ci ha fatto davvero comodo visto che non avevamo dormito la notte precedente (eravamo in aereo). Avendo pagato il check in anticipato, ed essendo anche in orario di colazione, abbiamo potuto usufruire anche della colazione. Di nuovo wow, ne avevamo bisogno. Colazione molto buona, a buffet, ci sono molte scelte dolci e salate. Posizione perfetta per muoversi per il centro a piedi comodamente. Se tornassi a Chicago, prenoterei nuovamente qui sicuramente. Tutto perfetto

Mancava il cavalletto per appoggiare almeno una valigia, ma non è stato un grande problema, abbiamo appoggiato il tutto a terra.

Truly a historic gem (circa 1925) restored to modern day convenience. Good amenities in a great location. Perhaps the best part was my experience at breakfast this morning. The standard Holiday Inn Express offerings were very well prepared (e.g., perfectly moist and appealing scrambled eggs) and the attendants distinguished themselves by their continuous checks and attention to detail like wiping up spills. However, the MOST REMARKABLE service I witnessed was when one of the two attendants noticed a guest (walking with a cane) needing assistance as he served his plate from the buffet. She respectfully approached him and offered her help. It was spontaneous kindness and true customer service at its best! Both my day and my trip were made better by seeing the above (while also enjoying a tasty, filling breakfast)! I will be back!
