Palazzo Daniele surpassed all of our expectations! The atmosphere is understated yet magical, each of the design details thoughtfully considered to maintain the historical aspect of the original building while bringing a fresh eye. What blew us away, however, was the staff: each person was kind, attentive, friendly and open and we were introduced to everyone, including the talented chef and members of the kitchen team. We ate every dinner of our three-night stay at the hotel and were impressed with the ingredients and variety. A breakfast menu item -- "The Perfect Egg" -- became a favorite and lived up to its name! While we were there during the quiet/cooler period of late October, the weather was sunny and mild. We used the dry sauna in the evenings which was a true treat (there is also a steam room). The pool looked inviting and sunny -- perfect for warmer days. And the gardens were serene. Parking across the street on city streets was easy (be mindful of the painted lines indicating it's ok to park!) and we were 1-2 hours away from most of our desired day trips to Lecce, Otranto and Gallipoli (45 minutes away). We would love to come back during the summer to explore and were jealous of the various group retreats that are lucky enough to call Palazzo Daniele home!

The bathtub in our room took a long time to fill and because the area is so large, the water cooled quite quickly. For this reason it wasn't practical to take a bath, but the shower was hot and relaxing!

I paid premium rates expecting the bathroom shown online, but the room we received was nothing like what was advertised. The actual bathroom was down a flight of stairs, separate from the toilet, with harsh lighting that made it feel like a dingy basement motel. There are no photos of this type of bathroom on the hotel’s own website, so there was no way to know what we were booking. Beyond that, the room had electrical issues, incorrect WiFi details, dirty floors that left dust on luggage and shoes, and no luggage stands (we requested them but only received three for five bags). The hotel admitted the listing photos were wrong but refused to offer any solution. Worst of all, management avoided me entirely — no apology, no attempt to remedy, even when the booking platform contacted them on my behalf. For the price charged, this was unacceptable and I would strongly caution against booking here.
