Watermouth Lodges

The lodge was clean and fairly comfortable. We received an unexpected welcome pack in the lodge which reflected the owners desire to make us feel welcome. They have recently taken over the Lodges and are working hard in these challenging times. Everyone was very friendly and the location is ideal with easy access to Ilfracombe, coastal walks and the beaches

The property we stayed in was not as advertised, and was of an extremely poor standard. In particular missing the advertised washing machine, and microwave. Cleaning was very poor we found black mould and mice droppings in the cutlery draw. Although we were given a free meal and a discount, it didn’t make up for a property that was not fit for purpose. The new owners seem to blame everything on the old owners but there was no excuse for this amateur outfit. You may get lucky but I wouldn’t take the risk. What slab shame as the location is superb.

Seemed really quiet and the lodges were spaced out well which is what we wanted during the current pandemic

Good location to get to Ilfracombe and the surrounding area. Perfect for what we needed as a family with much more than we needed.

Considering the property had been closed for months due to Covid they could have used the time to do general maintenance and deep cleaning. The floor to our cabin was filthy and the windows had nit been cleaned for months you couldn’t see through them. We went to the bar once and received a drink in a glass with lipstick on it, which during these times was very worrying, The bins and recycling bins were overflowing and smelly, lots of staff mulling about not seeming to be doing much. Very disappointing

big mistake on expedia they took my booking confirmed it with me but not at watermouth lodges so it was doubled booked and thanks to watermouth lodges had to find us some where else to say or we would have to go back home we were on a short break and it was spolit our short break not happy at all

This is the 2nd time i have stayed we love the area the shalet is a goid size we had food this time and limited menu food was good.we will be staying again

Absolutely fantastic, very high speck of cleaning, Recently decorated and fresh, food basket on arrival was a surprise and very delicious. Reception staff lovely and very friendly. Great bar area serving drinks and food. Ideal location 10 min drive to Ilfracombe and Combe Martin beach, with a 5 min walk across the road to a little harbour. Lodges at back of the Castle. Overall highly recommended.

The lodge was great for our little family, perfectly functional, and great for a short break! The shower was powerful and the bath enormous so it was easy with the children. A tad on the small side, but perfect for a base in the summer. Unfortunately not all the facilities were open, the new owners are finding their feet and dealing with Covid 19 restrictions etc, but they were so helpful and friendly it was perfectly fine and they were upfront about it. I loved the little touch of bread, milk, tea and juice in the cabin and everyone was as helpful and friendly as they could possibly be. If I was to be critical I’d say it could do with a bit of modernisation, but in today’s climate I think they’d have other priorities for the time being. Location was great for local beaches (Woolacombe only 15 minutes away) and with the cabins in a wooded area it was lovely. My only other suggestion would be to make the gardens secure as it would have made it easier to have the door open with the kids and the dogs! Thanks for a lovely stay.

Lovely place and NEW owners. Accommodation and facilities need desperate updating and tlc. Looking forward to returning once the new owners have had a chance to implement some changes.
