La Ceiba Tree Lodge

Very very nice hosts, who love what they do. The breakfast is yummy and different every day, prepared with much love to detail. The lady of the house bakes her own bread and the way the owner prepares the coffee in the morning is very meditative and reflects the love he puts in his work. One can feel that the guests happiness is very important for this family with two lovely sons. The owner is a guide who knows Costa Rica and can give valuable tips of places to visit. The view from the terrace is fantastic.

Very friendly and helpful host, beautiful surroundings and views, rainforest feeling deluxe, lovely breakfast! Also, the early morning bird tour comes highly recommended, we saw parrots, turkeys and toucans 🙂

The owner of the accommodation has given us a warm welcome. Got a room upgrade to a larger room with small terrace. With the best view of the Ceiba Tree (known from Avatar) which is almost 600 years old. In addition, you have a beautiful view of Lake Arenal with beautiful sunset. The breakfast was prepared on our wishes and with a lot of love. Delicious.

Sergio and his family were the perfect hosts and made our stay most enjoyable. The rooms were not fancy, but very comfortable and clean. The breakfast was amazing and the views breathtaking. The location is within 30 to 60 minutes of everything we wanted to do. Highly recommend La Ceiba and would definitely return.

location, up on a hill overlooking Arenal Lake looking south toward The cloud Forest. Unexpected surprise…The 600 year old Ceiba Tree featured in the 2022 film “Avatar “ located on property. Lots of flora and fauna. Hosted by Costa Rican Natives helped greatly understanding local culture and customs.

The Front entrance was hard to see at first. When you drive through the gate into the forested drive you can’t help but wonder where you are going. The property drive way is a right of way through an active farm. Hang in there it’s paved and you will climb up to a very pleasant view.

Breakfast was perfect lots of fresh fruit, coffee was fantastic. Added bonus that we could also eat dinner at the Lodge. The restaurant is charming. Views of the lake offered beautiful sunsets. Plenty of wildlife to watch all day. The Ceiba tree is magnificent! Sergio is the kindest host, always on hand to offer information.

Sergio was an excellent host-helpful and accommodating. The food was excellent and the property was beautiful.

The host, Sergio, and his wife could not have been kinder or more welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Sergio helped us with a punctured tyre on a Sunday, when I’m sure he had better things to do. He is also a mine of information on the region and what there is to do. Breakfast and evening meal were freshly cooked each day, using quality local ingredients and were worthy of the best restaurants. The lodge is in a lovely setting, with the giant ceiba tree in the grounds, one of only 40 in the whole of the country apparently.

The rooms could be more comfortable and do need updating, but were adequate and perfectly clean. Each has space outside with magnificent views over the Arenal Lake, especially at sunset.

We were excellently looked after. The first night our hosts made us supper, vegetarian by our request. it was excellent, imaginative, tasty and beautifully presented. Breakfast each morning was freshly made at the time we requested using locally sourced ingredients. Our host, Sergio, was helpful and good at giving us advice when we asked for it, without being at all pushy. He was also happy to recommend other places for us to eat out. Great sunsets and sunrises across the lake.

Not the most luxurious accommodation, but great value for money, and excellent dining and service more than made up for it.
