La Ceiba Tree Lodge

Discovering La Ceiba Tree Lodge was a delightful experience. The room was neat, beds were cozy, and the lake and garden view was lovely. The dining area was beautiful, breakfast was delicious, and the owner was friendly, well-mannered, and helpful. We had a great stay and highly recommend the lodge to others

My husband and three teenage children stayed for four nights over Christmas. It was an absolutely wonderful place to stay. Sergio and his wife were such kind, attentive and thoughtful hosts. They made us a lovely dinner on Christmas Eve when we arrived and delicious full breakfasts every morning. The rooms were so comfortable and the veranda was a beautiful place to relax in the hammocks. The views are amazing and the 600 year old ceiba tree is absolutely majestic, a beautiful tree to look at and live under. Their home is about 50 minutes from downtown fortuna and the drive is beautiful, thru dense lush rainforest with some excellent restaurants nearby. It was really nice being a little removed from the touristy part of fortuna and definitely felt easy enough to drive there and back for excursions. We definitely want to come back and highly recommend this beautiful tree lodge for anyone who wants a beautiful place to stay near Fortuna or Arenal area.

My partner and I went to Costa Rica mostly to surf but decided to stop by lake arenal on the way back to San Jose and we are so grateful we did! This lodge and the majestic ceiba tree that it overlooks are magical. The entire property is thriving with wildlife. Sergio, the owner, is so welcoming and knowledgeable about the local ecosystem. Breakfast is also to die for—both the food and the view are top notch.

Loved everything about this spot!

This was absolutely our favorite place to stay in Costa Rica. It is quiet, beautifully maintained, and the rooms sit right at the foot of a magnificent, 600 year-old Ceiba tree. We saw more exotic birds sitting on the porch here than in any of our hikes through the national forests. Best of all was the care, attentiveness and good humor of the hosts. Everything about this place is prepared and maintained with exquisite care and attention. I could not recommend it more highly.

It was ideal. True, if you are bothered by the sound of howler monkeys you might want to reconsider, but then again, if that's the case, why have you come to Costa Rica?

Very beautiful location right next to a huge tree right next to the tree they used in the movie “Avatar “. The host Sergio is wonderful, rooms are comfortable and clean with a good breakfast. Outstanding view of the lake. Dinner at the “Gingerbread House “ was a great plus as it was fabulous and just down the road.

A little tricky on a turn at the top of the road so be careful. Worth the it if you pay attention and go slow.

Amazing place! Sergio greeted us and gave us a tour, let us pick a room, and told us the history of the tree. Easily one of the most welcoming spots we visited in CR. Breakfast was delicious and the coffee is brewed right at the table. Really enjoyed our stay and would very highly recommend!

The only thing I would improve is that I wish we could have stayed longer

Our time at La Ceiba Tree Lodge was incredible. The property is absolutely gorgeous. The hosts are very welcoming and friendly and made us feel incredibly comfortable. Sergio went out of his way to help us plan activities and gave great recommendations on how to spend our time in Arenal. The breakfast at the lodge each morning was one of our favorite parts of the day; The healthy (but delicious and filling) food, local drip coffee, stunning views of the lake and conversation were all lovely. Not to mention the titular Ceiba Tree is located on the property and was within a stones throw of our room. It felt like a must see landmark that happened to be in our backyard. If you have the pleasure of staying here please send Tuco the puppy and Chumi the chihuahua our best!
