Sugar Beach Mauritius

The location is beautiful. Long sandy beach makes the hotel very special. The grounds are kept very well too. Many of the staff walking around are friendly and the food is decent!

Sadly a few things. We arrived and were not greeted for about 10mins, a strange reception welcome area. There were 2 weddings whilst we were there, our room was 100yards from the marquee and it was so loud our room was vibrating. Strange we were given that room especially with a toddler. We had no pre warning except a piece of paper through our door the night before saying it might be “a bit noisy”. Thankfully we asked to move room and this was granted. It just should not have happened in the first place. Those rooms near to the wedding area should not be sold. Waitressing staff in main restaurant are pleasant but not efficient, usually waiting a while for them to take lunch order. Beach staff never offered us drinks or cleared drinks. Card system for towels feels cheap. This hotel would be 5star if staff got proper training and service was improved significantly.

Tolle und gepflegte Hotelanlage mit sehr freundlichem Personal. Man fühlt sich wie im Paradies.

Positiv hervorheben möchten wir den Zimmerservice – dieser war durchweg freundlich und zuverlässig.

Bereits der Check-in begann mit einer Wartezeit von 1,5 Stunden – mit Kind absolut unangenehm und für ein Resort dieser Kategorie nicht akzeptabel. Die Themenabende beim Abendessen waren zwar grundsätzlich abwechslungsreich, geschmacklich hat uns jedoch kein einziges Gericht wirklich überzeugt. Auch das Frühstücksangebot wirkte wenig hochwertig und sehr eintönig. Täglich zu gefühlt 80 % dieselbe Auswahl, kein frisches Obstangebot, sondern lediglich gemischter Obstsalat. Enttäuschend war hingegen teilweise das Verhalten des Servicepersonals im Restaurant, besonders wenn es um die Platzwahl ging. Zudem waren viele Stühle sichtbar mit Vogelkot verschmutzt – und das offensichtlich nicht erst seit einem Tag, da vieles bereits eingetrocknet war. Dazu kam eine enorme Lautstärke im Restaurantbereich, eher vergleichbar mit einer Mitarbeiterkantine als mit einem entspannten 5-Sterne-Resort.

Loved the location and the beach. Friendly staff.

Slow service and mis- communication at times.

Beachfront, beautiful garden, nice colonial buildings, delicious breakfast and dinner (especially Indian food), fantastic pools, kind staff
