Hampton Inn Merrillville

It was a good hotel for the price the pool was small but it was nice

Started out rough when showed up to check in they didnt have my reservation so we spent an hour trying to find somewhere to stay then I received another email so I called hotel and they had the reservation so in the end it worked out was a little inconvenient that they couldn't give room keys and the elevator was broken but the staff was friendly and as helpful as she could be She kept a smile on her face even though she was yelled out over and over but other pain staying at the hotel

I love it! The staff were amazing and the room were very clean n comfortable..

Location

We were not notified ahead of time, that the elevator was out and they were not able to print key cards. Our room was located on the third floor, the poor staff member had to let each person into their rooms, and the air conditioning was not on when we arrived in our room and the room was very stuff. The staff person said it had been that way for 2-3 weeks.

This place should have not been open. The check in system was not working nor the elevator and you needed someone to let you in and out of rooms because of it. I expect to get a full refund.

This property was not clean. We walked in and right back out!

By far not a favorite Hampton Inn of mine. This hotel is DAMP. The carpets felt damp, the bed felt damp, the towels too. There is mold in the bathtub around the soap dish. Maybe it's because I'm on the first floor by the pool. Breakfast was a mess with a small dining area in a crowded hotel. Nothing to scoop eggs onto a plate, everything picked over, and messy overall. A storm went through in the night so the internet was out and the elevator quit working. I was not recognized as a Hilton Honors member and had to ask for my free water. Had to sit on a pillow as the desk chair is stuck in the low position. There is only one outlet on the desk since the frig uses the other plug. All in all, this Hampton Inn disappointed me. Convenient to the interstate is the best I can say for this place - oh, and the shower was nice (except for the mold in it).

The location was fine, and the breakfast was fine. It was clean.

The hotel is in serious need of an update. Peeling wallpaper, dingy lights, etc.
