Hampton Inn Merrillville

The elevator was not working and there was a giant bug on the curtain of our room. We asked to switch rooms and they could not accommodate us. Because I went through Expedia they could not refund my money either.

It was freaking terrible. Carpets were muddy and dirty through elevator was broken. It smelled horrible. It was loud absolutely nothing redeeming about this place and I will never stay there again.

It was dirty. Found rubber glove on the floor. The bathroom door was broken and couldn’t be shut all the way. The sheets felt very rough. When we got there at 12:30 am the lady at the front desk said she couldn’t check us in because the system was down. I had previously talked to a different employee and she told me about the system being down and to mention that room 107 would be ready for us when we got there and to worry because she would pass the info on to the next employee.

Very disappointed to write this review. First off, the staff that I encountered were very nice and professional. But this is all this property has going for it. It is obvious this property is suffering from COS - Cheap Owner Syndrome. The hallway carpets were completely filthy and stained. Not just a few places, but through the entire hallway. Definitely on the 1st and 2nd floors. At this point they are so stained that they won't come clean and need to be replace. Immediately, made me wonder what my room was like. A broken elevator which I suspect has been out for more than a day or two. A stairwell handrail replaced with raw lumber. Fit perfectly, but can't wait for the first guest to get a splinter. Worn out bathroom vanity with scraps and raw wood exposed. Room was clean but very dated and beat up furniture. Not worth the money!! I would have been very upset if I wasted points on this stay. Where is Hilton when it comes to making sure these properties up to company standards? Very disappointing!! Stay elsewhere if you want a clean hotel.

It was dirty! The hallway carpets are full of stains. Our first room smelled of cigarettes and mildew. We asked to change rooms. The new room was dusty and needed a deep cleaning. The elevators weren’t working the entire stay, so we had to walk up and down three flights of stairs with our luggage.

This is a very dated hotel. There was a sign saying the elevators weren’t working the carpet in the halls had all sorts of old stains. The room smelled disgusting. The carpet was gross. The plug in the bathroom wouldn’t hold anything.

Convenient location to Chicago.

The floors in our room weren't very clean. Carpet felt a little sticky.
