"Exceptional"

The hotel was wonderful in every way, from the room to the pool, to the common areas. At the restaurant the food was absolutely excellent, the service was terrific, the hostess exceptionally rude both mornings we ate at 34 North.

The hostess was awful at 34 North both mornings we had breakfast.

"Nightmare in Beaufort"

I’ll start off with the positives. The hotel is on the water and the view is beautiful. The setting is really nice and I felt away from it all. The room was well decorated and I loved the bathroom. Every single staff member I encountered was wonderful. Now for the not so good….the hotel had one of those air conditioning systems that gets super cool but totally turns off during the night. I woke at 3 am to a HOT and stuffy room. It did not matter how you had the thermostat set it would NOT turn on until morning. I was miserable and did not sleep! I texted the number they had provided at check in and did not receive a response until 8 am the following day. I barely slept that night which I found stressful because I had a lot drive/day bringing my son home from sleep away camp. Also, the restaurant at the hotel had a nice view a the waitresses were nice but the food was not good and the service was very underwhelming. I recommend maybe having a drink at the hotel (my dirty martini was great) and then using the hotel’s shuttle to go to one of the restaurants in the area. I left my breakfast tag on the door before going to bed the prior. Isn’t only to find it still on the door the next morning! They responded to my text complaint at 8 am offering to submit a breakfast order for me but at that point I had to hit the road to pick my son up from camp so I had to leave without breakfast. Lastly, once I finally received responses on the text chain provided they were very nonchalant as if what I was asking for (for example air conditioning on a hot day in June or food) was unreasonable. In summary, I got very little sleep and left hungry. It’s a shame because the hotel setting is quite nice and we will be back in the area next year for camp drop off and pick up but I would not stay here again!

This hotel seems to be committed to customer service. All the staff, including valet drivers, desk/guest services, food servers, cleaning staff all seem very happy and willing to assist. We loved George who helped us with our luggage to our room and also was our valet on occasion. Very special people. The hotel must be very proud of their exceptional employees.

"Wonderful place to stay!"

Wonderful hotel stay! The staff was welcoming and friendly. Our room was spacious and very clean. The pool area was clean with plenty of chairs and umbrellas. Enjoyed coffee in the rocking chairs overlooking the water each morning. Just an overall great experience and would definitely stay here again!

I stayed at the Beaufort Hotel during my son’s wedding weekend, so this was a very important trip for our family. After returning home, I realized I had accidentally left a jacket and shirt hanging in the closet. I contacted the hotel about a week later, but by then the items were gone and could not be located. What disappointed me most was the way the situation was handled. When I calmly asked whether I could speak with the housekeeper who cleaned the room, the general manager became very defensive and raised his voice, telling me, “I will NOT allow you to speak with my employees.” I understand I should have called sooner, and I wasn’t accusing anyone of anything — I was simply trying to locate sentimental and valuable belongings. For a hotel of this caliber, especially one that hosts weddings and important family events, I expected more professionalism, empathy, and better lost-and-found procedures. I’m sharing this so future guests remember to double-check their rooms carefully before leaving.
