Beaufort Hotel

Great hotel in an incredible location

Really lovely staff. Rooms were spacious and clean. Restaurant and bar were really nice.

Would have loved more of a water view otherwise all good.

My husband and I came in on Sunday, July 25th. As we pulled up to the hotel, which was absolutely beautiful, we were met with the most fantastic outdoor staff. Nothing was too small for them to do for us. 3 women were at the reception desk. We were told that our room was not ready yet, but we knew that was a possibility as it was only 3:00 pm. We sat out on the gorgeous deck enjoying the view when we were called just a few minutes later that our room was ready. My husband asked the woman a question as she handed him our room card. She just looked at him and turned away, which we thought was odd. We went to our room which was lovely and clean. Had an extremely restfull night and enjoyed a wonderful breakfast at the 34North Restaurant. Our server was delightful. Walking back to our room after breakfast, I noticed the hallway carpets had quite a lot of debris scattered about. I just figured housekeeping would be vacuuming later as it was still early. We left the hotel around 10:00 am to enjoy the town of Beaufort which was so lovely. As the day was warm, we went back to our room at about 1:30 pm. finding that housekeeping had not been to our room yet. We left again at around 2:30 (still no housekeeping) to enjoy some more sights and came back at 4:00 to get ready for our dinner at 34 North Restaurant. To our surprise the room was still not cleaned. We still did not say anything, and decided to go to the bar until 5:00 to give housekeeping more time to do up our room. As it happened, some maintenance people were knocking on the door near our room. I asked one of them if they knew if our room would be made up or not. He said he would check. I thanked him & we went to the bar. As we entered the lobby, I decided to ask about our room and the front desk. The woman said that rooms are not always made up and their first priority was cleaning rooms for people coming in. When I told my husband what she said, he looked at me saying that our confirmation letter said that rooms were made up every day. When we went back to our room, we found that the bed was made, very sloppily, with the couch throw pillows thown on the bed. The dirty towels were still in the bathroom with no clean towels. We did at that time call the front desk to complain. Someone from housekeeping came a few moments later taking the dirty towels and leaving clean ones. The rest of the bathroom was left unclean. We checked out the next morning to continue on our trip to Myrtle Beach. I realized that I had left my dress in the room closet and when we got to our next hotel, we called Beaufort. We were given directions on who to contact to fill out forms and that someone from lost and found would reach out to us within a few days. It is now Aug. 19th and we still have not heard from anyone from the Beaufort about the dress. Oh! and housekeeping never vacummed the hallways!!!! I can only conclude that housekeeping and the front desk are extremely overwhelmed and maybe hiring more help in those departments would be a huge help to the hotel.
