Monsal Head Hotel

Fantastic location with amazing views. The person that booked me in and was serving in the bar/restaurant (think his name was Will/William) was great, nothing to much trouble, very polite and helpful.

The location is amazing and the breakfast was lovely.

There are a lot of significant problems with damp and rot, the room was falling apart as a result as was the breakfast room. It was way too expensive considering the state of the property.

Room size was great, overlooking some fantastic views. All staff were helpful and friendly. Evening meal was very good value. Happy for you to take your drinks over to watch the sunset, which was a brilliant experience. Breakfast in the morning was very relaxed with good quality food

Only small downside was the fact we booked what was advertised as a double room, and had double on the room info when checking in, but it was a twin room. Not an issue at all (we just pushed beds together) but maybe would frustrate some people.

Staff were all great and very attentive. Yes the hotel is a bit tired overall but it's clean and the views from the rooms are stunning.

Having stayed at the hotel each year (fishing in the Derbyshire Wye - paid) The location / views are exceptional. Very convenient for the fishing and walking. The renovated rooms are excellent (particularly with the balcony view)

Sadly the hotel is looking tired and needs money spending on the building before it falls down.. It could be filled every day with coach parties if its 'done up'

The breakfast was good and we had a great view from our window. The staff were exceptional.

Possibly a little more choice of menu for the evening meal.

Great location, lovely food and beer, we both enjoyed our dinner, which was delicious. The staff were all polite and helpful.

Having previously stayed in room 1 with the balcony view of Monsal Head and antique furnishings, the room we stayed in this time, 5 was perfectly comfortable, a good size but lacked character and did not have the views also bizarrely no modesty glass in bathroom so blind required to be pulled down in order to use loo or shower! Also shame that the brasserie in the stable block was closed as this had previously a much nicer ambience than the current restaurant, which lacked any real ambience.
