Kanazawa Machiya Kenroku

Amazing place to stay if you’re looking for a ryokan experience. Beautiful ryokan with a lot of attention to detail. Our host Hitty was great, he gave us a brief introduction to the history of the place which was very interesting and a lot of great tips where to go and what to do at Kanazawa.

Lovely to stay in a piece of history period house. Wonderful explanation of the artefacts by the kind and helpful host.

It has character, charm and excellent facilities. A wonderful, warm host, Hitty was on hand to talk me through the check in process, explaining the house to me, its history and amenities. In addition to taking the time to recommend places and restaurants in Kanazawa. A wonderful host and a wonderful stay.

一棟貸しということで友人たちだけとの宿泊でのんびりできました。宿の方の心配りもありがたかったです。

こちらの設定ミスだったのですがお風呂のお湯の温度を確認をしなかったので少しぬるかったです。今の季節だったら大丈夫だったのですが冬だったらと思うとちゃんと確認しなくちゃいけなかったなぁと思いました。

This is one of the best host introductions to a historical hotel we've ever had. With direct familial lineage, learned a lot about the background and provided an another level of a connection rarely found in other. The location is prime. Being roughly equidistant from all relevant points means there's always a little walking but it's always convenient. This is exactly what we wanted in this town.

Little to not like about this place. Know what you're booking, a traditional samurai-era home that's been upgraded with modern amenities.

Location to station and sights was very good. House is extremely clean.

Some road noise as located near a main intersection.

Everything about our stay was exceptional. Such an honour to stay in a place with so much history. Hitty (the owner) is a relative of the samurai that lived in this home and is so generous and attentive. We will definitely be coming back to kanazawa and definitely stay here. Loved it.

The host Hitty was amazing - told us all about the history of the house. The house itself was amazing and a great base for a week in Kanazawa. Amazing shower and bath. Nice thick futons. Great location, in a walkable location to the train, buses, food, 7-11.

Absolutely nothing. Would not be a great place for people who struggle with knee/hip issues due to the steep stairs (but we had no issues)

The host, Hitty, was so welcoming and responsive. He shared some great local recommendations and was able to meet us at the house at the time we needed. The house itself is very comfortable even in the cold weather as you can control the heating everywhere. Very comfortable futons which was a welcome surprise as sometimes they can be too firm!

Nothing, it was what I would expect from such accommodations and was lovely.
