Hitty goes above and beyond when you check in. You get a tour of this beautiful historic house, he shows you family heirlooms that are museum quality, he gave us local snacks and a beautiful tablecloth to take home to remember this place by. This is a must experience and slept so comfortably here and enjoyed the bath. Hitty gave recommendations to amazing restaurants nearby. This place is truly special and will be in my top favorite places I have ever stayed. Truly an honor to stay here so thank you Hitty!

I cannot fault this property. Hitty was in contact with us before we arrived and met us at the property. He took time to give us an introduction to Kanazawa and shared his family’s history. The property was fantastic - spacious, clean, comfortable and the most interesting place we have stayed in Japan.

The property was close to the train station and very easy to access. Hitty was an amazing host and led us through an introduction on the history and memorabilia contained in his ancestral home.

Amazing property. The history was fascinating. The facilities so comfortable. So much space. The location was perfect for access to JR station for Shinkansen. Hitty our host was wonderful explaining all the history of the building and his family.

Unbeatable location near the main station, the charm of the authentic Japanese house, and the incredibly welcoming hosts!! Everything was perfect!

This hotel was one of our most memorable parts of the trip, with the property being amazing, beautiful and clean with all the necessary amenities provided. Hitty-san, our host, gave us a tour of the property which was enriched with history being 300 years old from the Edo period. It was formerly owned by his Ancestors as well and Hitty-san showing us his precious family heirlooms that he has kept made the experience even more memorable. Hitty-san was also very knowledgeable about the area, providing us recommendations on locations to visit in Kanazawa. Hitty-san was also very responsive, and offered recommendations to local restaurants depending on which cuisine we were craving and called them up to reserve seats for us, in which we thoroughly enjoyed eating at. He also recommended us a way to get to Takayama from Kanazawa when we asked him about it, even calling up Taxi companies on our behalf to try to get it booked. Hitty-san had also left us parting gifts, in which we are so ever thankful for and will remind us forever of our stay at the property. The hospitality and service provided by Hitty-san will never be forgotten, it was unique compared to any other stay we had in Japan and we honestly wished we had booked more nights at Kanazawa Machiya Kenroku. If you are looking to visit Kanazawa, this is 100% the property to book for a group of friends or family and if we ever visit again, we will definitely make sure to book with this property!

The location in relation to the train station is very good, only a short walk. The interior is very well appointed, underfloor heating. Very clean bedding

However, the house is on a very busy road and the noise in the morning was pretty loud.
