Staff and property is nice. Location is also good.

Area was a little short of dining options, but close to many attractions either by walking or car service. Great fitness center and pool, off the street level which was nice. Great bar and ambience

This is my first time staying here, and I am a Marriott Owner. I was amazed by how this property is maintained. Everyone is professional, responsive, and helpful. The location is amazing. The only issue is how steep the parking is. Other than that, I will recommend this location. The bathrooms are very spacious, and everything you need is in the room, very well thought out. I am impressed.

Property is conveniently located around numerous shops and walking distance to several attractions, just be prepared to wear comfortable shoes. Self Parking is the worst! Pay the extra $20 and have Valet do it for you. The garage is the most narrow 500 ft curved tunnel, I ever seen. This never should have been built like that. It’s awful and I saw a car hit the wall rushing. Be careful or just pay. Staff was amazing, hotel was clean, food and accommodations were nice, and guest laundry was amazing. Overall this hotel is great, parking is bad, but location and staff and cleanliness make up for it.

Located in the heart of downtown San Diego this property makes for a great launch pad for family tourist activities due to its proximity to the San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, Little Italy (via light rail) and the Gas Lamp District. The lobby is located on the 12th floor with self parking ($43/day) available from the 7th to the 11th floor. Tip: Park on the 11th floor and use the baggage carts located by the elevator entrance. The front desk was professional and friendly. We arrived around 1pm and recognizing my MVC status, they were able to find a King Suite on a high floor with a city view of the El Cortez hotel. The room was divided into 2 sections, 1 comfortable King bed with a large bathroom, a walk in shower (includes shampoo, conditioner and body soap pumps) and large dresser (where safe is located). The other section has a pull out couch that turn into a comfortable bed and is perfect for young ones or even young teenagers. It also has the kitchen with a small fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, plates, glasses and utensils. Bottled water is provided every day along with housekeeping which is also everyday. There is a restaurant and bar/lounge located in the lobby area that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, along with beer, wine and cocktails. Note that the cocktails were expensive at $19 each. They also serve Starbucks coffee in the morning. We didn’t try the food since there are plenty of restaurants to choose from including in the Gas Lamp area (15 min walk), but we saw a few people eating there for convenience. There is a small indoor pool and 4-person Jacuzzi beside a small gym which are both located on the 12th floor. The gym (which wasn’t busy) includes a set of free weights, treadmills, bikes, couple of benches and a universal equipment. One day we rented some e-bikes from a bike shop less than a 10 minute walk and rode the bikes around Balboa Park and Harbor Island (highly recommended). Another day we drove to Coronado Island and rented beach chairs on the beach at the Hotel Coronado (highly recommended). Note all-day parking is available at the Hotel Coronado for $90 but you get $15 off after you get it validated, or you can try to find street parking. This property is a good property to use your MVC points especially if you are with your family and are planning to do lots of sight seeing close to downtown San Diego. It is not located on or near the beach if this is what you are looking for.
