Pestana Churchill Bay

We are at Madeira airport waiting for our flight back to Bristol. One week here wasn’t long enough. We cannot find fault with the hotel. Accommodation was clean and the view from room 116 on the ground floor was spectacular. Sea view to wake up to. Quiet and peaceful. The staff couldn’t do enough for us. Exceptional. Particular praise goes to Daniel on reception, born in Madeira, knowledgeable, friendly and genuine. Others on reception were also very helpful. The waiting staff were lovely. I am ashamed that I can’t remember the woman’s name who worked so hard. Dark hair, petite with tattoos, you were lovely, thank you. To the ladies who cleaned our room, please come and help in my house! The hotel could do with more staff at times, as the few worked so hard. The car parking near the hotel attracts homeless people who ask for money when you are finding somewhere to park… do not feel obliged to give. There is free parking up the hill behind the petrol station. Ask Daniel, he will advise. He will also recommend the car rental to use, excellent they were. No hidden charges. We will return. This hotel is excellent - fabulous location, really lovely, caring staff, excellent rooms, and delicious breakfast. Just great for a weeks holiday.

Nothing!

We have just returned from an excellent stay at Pestana Churchill Bay. We had upgraded our room and had a balcony overlooking the harbour and the village. We had a very relaxing week people watching in the mornings which were mainly sunny and warm. The sun moved round at about 1.30 pm and the temperature dropped and the breeze increased. Our room was kept spotlessly clean by Jessica who was friendly and very hard working. The bedlinen and towels were changed regularly and the floor was mopped every day. The other staff were also friendly and very hardworking, especially Nadia, Gwillem, and AnneMarie. The breakfast buffet was extensive and the dinners were good. It was not warm enough to eat outside and so we made sure we reserved a table if we wanted to eat there in the evening. Our return flights were cancelled due to high winds at the airport and Jet2 kept us well informed and arranged for the hotel to provide evening meals at no cost to ourselves for the extra 2 nights and we were able to remain in the same room until we left. We were very impressed with the way in which the delay was dealt with by Jet2 and the hotel as it must have made a lot of work the staff of both organisations.

Everything, the location was perfect for a quieter get away than Funchal. Walking distance to restaurants, beaches, walks, etc.

It is in a central location, so there are people near your room. Not a negative for us, but maybe for some.

Great location right on sea, staff very pleasant, nice swimming pool.

Somewhat dated, bedroom and balcony small, bed rather hard.

Die Lage- ganz zentral in Câmara De Lobos. Das freundliche Personal, v.a. Daniel an der Rezeption. Die Sauberkeit Frühstücksbuffet war sehr lecker, immer frisches Obst und jeden Tag anderes Gebäck. Super Brot! Die Ausgangslage ist perfekt für Touren überall auf der Insel.

Die Zimmer sind relativ eng, aber da man auf der wunderschönen Insel sowieso meist draußen ist stört das nicht

Great location in pretty little harbour. Friendly staff. Pleasant pool. Quiet relaxing stay.

Room was small with limited storage. Breakfast very unexciting. Some permanent stains on the corridor carpet of the bedroom wing.
