Just off the coast to coast path

Told we were staying at the pub opposite when we arrived, which was a small cold dirty room, above an empty pub, also cold and dirty. Bathroom hadn’t been cleaned for some time and was mouldy as well as dirty. Food was terrible, next morning the breakfast was equally bad and not what they’d taken as an order the night before. No one around to take the bags as we were leaving. Service at breakfast non existent.

"The beautiful setting largely made up for the inadequacies of the hotel."

The location of the hotel was excellent, and the room quiet and fairly comfortable.

Breakfast was served in a perfunctory way, with a very poor choice of cereals, and no fruit. The door of the ancillary building where we were staying had an extremely difficult lock, and definitely needed oiling.

We were upgraded to a small apartment but not sure why there was no space in the hotel. This was comfortable.
