I like the style of the property it was charming

Room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was very good.

We actually stayed in the Three Tuns pub across the road. The pub itself was closed and we seemed to be the only people staying in the building which was a little strange, particularly as the front door didn't seem very secure. We ordered breakfast in advance but weren't made aware of all the options and didn't really get what we had ordered. Young man who served at breakfast was pleasant enough .

The village was lovely, location is great really central

We booked to stay in the Queen Catherine but we're moved to the 3 Tuns. The room was fine for one night. But it was very small up in the attic the only view was of a roof, which was grubby. I think we should have been notified that there was to be a change and then we might have booked somewhere else.

Absolutely Disgraceful – I’ve never left a negative review online before — but after what happened at The Queen Catherine Hotel, Osmotherley, I feel I have no choice. We waited 1 hour and 40 minutes for food that never came. I was with my elderly parents and three young children. After 45 minutes, I politely asked where our food was, and was snapped at by an older member of staff who rudely said, “We did tell you there was a wait.” Let’s be clear — nobody said 45 minutes, let alone close to two hours. We were told there might be a short wait, and I said that was absolutely fine — but that doesn’t excuse being completely ignored, forgotten, and treated with total indifference. When I tried to respond, she turned her back on me mid-sentence and walked away. I was stunned. Then she came over later — not to check in, not to apologise, but to silently collect our glasses. I told her how rude she had been, and again, she said nothing and walked off. Eventually, a younger member of staff came over and apologised, saying the food was being prepared now. That was well over an hour in. We gave it another 20 minutes — still nothing. We had to leave, with no food, no apology from management, and not even an offer to cover our drinks. We’re not unreasonable — we understand things go wrong sometimes. Kitchens get busy. Mistakes happen. But the level of incompetence here was unreal. Not one check-in, no communication, no effort to fix it. Just silence, excuses, and a staggering lack of care. To make matters worse, the night before we visited their other pub, The Three Tuns, where we sat with menus for 20 minutes — only to be told the kitchen was closed. Again, no apology, no explanation, no clue. I genuinely cannot believe how badly these places are run. Turning your back on a paying customer is outrageous. This wasn’t just bad service — it was a total failure in every way. Avoid The Queen Catherine Hotel, Osmotherley at all costs. Unless you enjoy being lied to, ignored, and walking out hungry and furious — take your money somewhere that actually cares.

Friendly staff. Great service. Excellent location. Fantastic food freshly prepared by chefs every day. Spoke with the owner, Stephen, who is a friendly and helpful person with a great personality. Will definitely come back in the future.
