Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa

Hotel is beautiful. Breakfast staff are wonderful and so is the food! We had an ocean front room in K Tower. The slider to the lanai was so hard to open my wife couldn’t open it. Reception sent maintenance but they couldn’t do much. I believe the door needs replaced. Carpet is a trip hazard. But we have stayed there four times and will always stay there.

Good location

We had a day room at this property while spending the day in Honolulu before our evening flight. Check in was easy and a room was ready a little early. It was on the 18th floor with a city view. It was perfect for our purpose but would have been a little small if we were staying more than a night or two. The hotel has 2 small pools, one family and one adult. Neither were overly crowded around lunchtime. The restaurant by the pool is expensive (no surprise) but served our needs. The highlight is that the hotel is right across from Waikiki Beach. Two beach chairs were included, which was a plus. We enjoyed our day

I had a great stay until the end. The property is nice, the food could be better but overall the property wasn’t the issue.

The day before I checked out I requested a late check out for 1pm. It was approved and they switched my keys out. The day of departure I woke up with a letter for balances to be paid before departure. I continued to the pool and vacationing and was going to handle those balances at check out as I did. When I got back to the room my key card access was denied, I called the front desk they said security was coming. He let me in, then called the phone and said I was to be escorted to the front desk to pay now. I explained I was fresh from the pool and out of the shower and I will be down at check out. He said no you need to come now they said. I said I wouldn’t as it’s 12:37 and check out was at 1:00. I needed to pack and get out of the room. I opened my door and security was there to escort me to the desk. Manager CoCo stated people bail on them so they were “making sure I paid the overage” I have never felt pressed, accused, and soo humiliated ever staying anywhere! I’m a Marriott Bonvoy member, a business owner and travel quite often. I’ve never dealt with this type of behavior. The manager CoCo waived my late check out fee but said that happens to them a lot. I told her they shouldn’t treat everyone like those who have bailed. I didn’t event get until my 1pm checkout and security was pressing me at my door and calling me. I keep my cards locked and just needed to unlock them to take care of the overages. I didn’t receive one phone call from the desk just a letter and didn’t realize they would treat me like this! I’m very disappointed and felt very discriminated against.

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this hotel. Some of the big resorts in Waikiki can lack personality. I have also stayed at other places with “ocean views” that included a rooftop full of HVAC units. The Ocean View rooms at Marriott Waikiki deliver gorgeous views of the iconic stretch of Waikiki from Diamond Head to Ala Wai Harbor. Easily walkable/uber to all of Waikiki from the hotel, I do not recommend getting a rental car if you don't plan to do a lot of driving to other parts of the island. And even then, the tours have transportation. ***There is construction going on to repair the exterior balconies. However, I was notified a week prior and given a choice to upgrade rooms to an ocean view (non functioning balcony) but totally worth it for those views. Also there is no construction on the weekends, but I don’t know how inconvenient the construction would be during the week. Breakfast buffet was excellent. Easy beach access and two pools (one adult only, one family friendly) as well as daily activities, which is great depending on what kind of trip you are on. i have stayed at seven different hotels in the Waikiki area and would add this one as one to come back to.

Room was clean, housekeeping staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Baggage attendants were top notch. Check in however was rough. She was rude and short. Didn’t explain anything and if I didn’t ask I wouldn’t know. Didn’t know about a $25 room credit; had to ask about parking. It was 2 in the afternoon so it wasn’t very busy but she was just meh. Otherwise great location and we were 33 floor. It was a beautiful view.

The property was well maintained, plenty of breakfast. lunch, dinner options onsite as well as within close proximity, shopping stores onsite and many more within a 2 mile radius. The beach is directly across the street and the pool area is wonderful. The location is easy to get to and from all the attractions you desire to see.
