"Excellent stay for our first-time visit to Oahu"

10.0

This was our first trip to Hawaii, celebrating our 35yr anniversary. Oahu was the first stop on our trip. Four nights at this incredible hotel! We were fortunate enough to be upgraded to a room with views of Diamond Head and the ocean. The views did not disappoint! The hotel is going thru some renovation in the Kealohilan tower. We were in the Paoakalani Tower, and never heard any noise from the renovation. The only impact to us was when walking thru the main level from the front desk back thru the ABC store to the beach. As for amenities - ABC Store, Starbucks, beach chair/umbrella rental, shopping - all on site! Our booking had an allowance for 2-chairs or a chair/umbrella per day. Ideal having this on site, and as an option! Pick up and drop off right there on the 1st floor! Overall, the hotel was fantastic. The presentation in the open-air front lobby, the cleanliness of the room/bathroom, the attentive service, was second to none! The beach is right across the street - very convenient! As well, the main shopping fare starts just outside the hotel - with high-end fashion and every-day Aloha shirts within easy walking distance. There are many restaurants and coffee shops close by. I recommend reservations to the restaurants, as they do get busy quick in the afternoon. The Marriott Waikiki Beach Resort & Spa is an excellent place to stay. I highly recommend!

"Best hotel in Waikiki!"

10.0

This is the best hotel in Waikiki! The rooms are beautiful and spotlessly clean, the breakfast is delicious and the amenities are fantastic. You won't find a better location either. A perfect location right across the street from the best part of Waikiki Beach, steps away from beautiful Kapi'olani Park and the zoo, close to fantastic shopping and dining, but slightly away from the most crowded parts of Waikiki. It is a sanctuary in the midst of Waikiki. But what makes this hotel special is the staff. Every single staff member we encountered was amazing. From the front desk staff, to the servers in the Kuhio Grill at breakfast, to the housekeeping staff, to every security and maintenance person we encountered, we were greeted warmly every single time and they were all beyond friendly and helpful. A very special shout out has to go to the Asst Front Office Manager Lloyd. Words can't describe how friendly, helpful and compassionate he is. We were in a difficult situation and he helped us beyond belief. What an asset he is to your hotel - he is the best I have ever encountered at any hotel anywhere. If I could give 20 stars, it still wouldn't be enough. This is a first class, beautiful hotel. I will never stay anywhere else in Waikiki and I highly recommend you choose the Waikiki Beach Marriott for your next stay.

"Beautiful Room & View, But an Underwhelming “Resort” Experience"

6.0

The room was undeniably the highlight of our stay. It was spacious, clean, and thoughtfully designed, with a cozy little nook that we really enjoyed. Unfortunately, a couple of issues affected our comfort: the mini fridge stopped working after the first day. Although maintenance came quickly to fix it, it broke again the very next day. Additionally, the A/C runs on a motion sensor, which means it shuts off at night when you’re asleep—causing the room to get noticeably warm. Where the stay truly fell short was in the “resort” experience. Despite being advertised as a resort, very little about the property delivers that feel. While the ongoing maintenance is disclosed at booking, the extent of the construction significantly impacts the atmosphere. Both pools are surrounded by visible and audible construction, the courtyards are blocked off with fencing and tarps, and what remains are fluorescent‑lit hallways that feel more like a hospital corridor than a beachfront getaway. Although the hotel is near the beach, it is still located across the street. The only beach-related amenities provided are towels—and even those are very worn and undersized. Anything else you would expect from a resort, such as umbrellas, loungers, or chairs, requires a rental fee. The service and policies also felt more transactional than hospitable. Checkout is strictly at 11 a.m., and late checkout costs $50 per hour—even just pushing it to noon wasn’t offered as a courtesy. When we needed a quiet place for a short work call, we asked about using an unused conference room for one hour and were told we would have to reserve it and pay additional fees (this request was also made during non-peak business hours). Even accessing a luggage cart felt unnecessarily complicated; on the morning we were bringing down beach gear we had purchased, we were told luggage carts needed to be reserved in advance. Overall, the room itself was lovely, but everything outside of it felt far from a resort experience. Between the construction, lack of amenities, and added fees for even the simplest conveniences, the stay fell short of expectations.

"ALERT: you will NOT be allowed on any balconies"

2.0

ALERT: you will NOT be allowed on any balconies as they are being remodeled. Management does not divulge this info until 7 days before your arrival. A few days before starting our Hawaii vacation, Marriott emailed us that the 3 oceanfront balconies in our $1,000++ suite/day, booked from over 6 months prior to our arrival, are being renovated & blocked off & they wouldn’t allow access to them! So what’s the point of getting ocean front suites ?? What is appalling is that management knew that would be ongoing and never disclosed anything .. so now all other hotels with oceanfront suites were all booked. This was an awful management decision that will not be forgotten. As we are now retired and traveling the globe 4-5 times per year .. Marriott & its affiliates will never see a reservation from us again. A 17 day suite reservation in Amsterdam, as well as 1 week in Paris in 2 months have now been canceled due to the misleading and unprofessional experience we had with this unethical hotel management. They should be ashamed of themselves, it appears that all locals in Waikiki know of this ongoing restoration that has now lasted over 1 year. This is not the Marriott I have supported for the past 35 years.

Gutes WLAN. Balkon mit schöner Aussicht. Zimmergrösse gut. Badezimmer gut.

Dass man 50 Doller Reserotgebühr zahlt, auch wenn man keines der Angebote nutzt.

"Horrible experience."

2.0

I used to come to this Marriott for many years. And have always loved it. But recently it's all changed. Construction happening outside your window. And they start drilling and jackhammering at 6 AM. Deck is off-limits. Wish I knew this when I was booking. When I asked to do a half an hour late checkout, they said it'll be $50 per room. I've been coming to Marriot my whole life, and have never been charged $50 for a late checkout. I would not recommend this place. I'm never coming to Marriott again. Not the way to treat your long-term customer. Yoku at the front desk was somewhat rude when telling me about the late checkout. Waikiki Beach has a lot of cool hotels. Don't waste your time in this one.
