After many years as a Marriott Ambassador Elite—and now Titanium Elite—I’ve stayed at my fair share of properties. Lately, I’ve felt like the consistency and care across Marriott has started to slip. But then came Marriott Waikoloa, and suddenly, everything shifted. From the moment we arrived, Elizabeth greeted us with the kind of warmth that stays with you. She’s kind, genuine, and carries herself with the poise of someone who should be running the place. As Front Desk Supervisor, she is the gold standard—truly the face of Marriott done right. And Kristy? She went out of her way to help us celebrate a meaningful family moment with such kindness and attention to detail. She even helped secure our preferred room type, which we knew wasn’t guaranteed, but the fact that she even considered it made all the difference. These two are the reason I will come back here—and why I’ve started to believe in the brand again. Location-wise, this property is a gem. You're walking distance to both Queens’ and Kings’ Shops, which is incredibly convenient for everything from meals to little shopping trips. The beach is beautiful and easy to access, and the pool area is perfect for families—there’s a water slide, a shallow baby pool, and plenty of room to lounge. The food? It’s decent, but not unforgettable. That said, the service at the front desk more than makes up for it. When people lead with heart and hospitality like Elizabeth and Kristy do, everything else just feels better. Thank you, Elizabeth and Kristy. You turned a vacation into a memory—and made us feel like our loyalty actually means something again.

Staff was very nice pools were nice and clean. The poolside cabana was affordable and very comfy. The souvenir store was well stocked with anything you could possible need. Our flight was not until late at night and we were able to book a room for a great price for half the day.

One of the two rooms we got was not at all the picture on the site. It was dark and missing furniture. Not at all updated with paint chipping and peeling off the walls.

I stayed at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa on vacation. This resort is relatively close to Kona and on a nice beach area. The resort is very nice with a few nice pools and landscaping. The overall vibe of the resort is excellent, and the buildings are open and airy. Rooms were big with plenty of space. No issues with room cleanliness or service. I highly recommend this hotel for touring Kona and the west side of the Big Island.

As a solo traveler familiar with Marriott standards, I arrived at the Waikoloa Beach Resort with high hopes. Unfortunately, my experience fell short of expectations. The location itself is beautiful, with easy access to the beach and nearby shops and restaurants. However, the overall resort experience lacked the warmth and polish I typically associate with Marriott properties. Service throughout the property felt transactional rather than hospitable. While a few team members were pleasant, the overall attitude leaned indifferent. Dining options were limited and overpriced for the quality. This property feels more like a high-traffic tourist stop than a true resort experience. It may suit families or groups looking for convenience, but if you're seeking a more refined or restorative stay, I would recommend looking elsewhere on the Big Island.

This was very walkable to shipping, dining, and beach. The only complaint is that the drinks were very weak. The food was great, especially the French dip sandwich.

Expedia does a HORRIBLE job communicating with the hotel. None of your notes that are requested upon booking is transferred to the hotel. I had to request a room change TWICE. Final room was great. The drinks and spa were mediocre. However, the massage technician was very friendly and knowledgeable. The location is great and very convenient.

Old elevators. One was on/off broken. Extremely expensive for unknown reasons. Fries are $16! The property outdoor is nice but the beach turned out to not belong to Marriott anymore. Which wasn’t mentioned on their website. It’s a 3rd party and rental for a covered chair is $75 for 4 hours. Overall, I think it’s a nice hotel but it’s way overrated and way too expensive for what it’s offering thinking of taxes this and taxes and taxes on resort fee and it’s insane. I’m ok paying for all these taxes, but I think we shouldn’t be charged so expensively for food.
