Sheraton Suites Old Town Alexandria

Booked this hotel at club level for 7 nights only to find out that club level has not existed for quite some time because corporate doesn’t know what they want to do with it. That’s what I was told from the front desk person however when I called 3 weeks before we showed up, it was being renovated. Only one of two elevators was working the entire time we were there and reading a review a week before we got there, the elevator wasn’t working, when I asked about it again corporate had to call somebody to take care of it and they weren’t dealing with it properly. Our package was then to include breakfast and again they failed to provide that. At least if there was no club level, they should’ve provided the free breakfast. We were in our original room 904 for one night and the vent above the toilet in the bathroom was leaking from the other toilet on 10th floor, it was absolutely disgusting and unpleasant so they moved us to the 10th floor. The cleaning service people were horrendous and gave nothing but attitude if you ask them to do, the garbage or make the beds. One day the lady dumped everything from the garbage in our bathroom into the toilet and flushed it and then they will wonder why they have plumbing problems when I asked her about it, she said mind your business. I would not recommend this hotel to even my worst enemy, an absolute disaster, and the Marriott should be ashamed of having this property managed like this, considering the amount of negative reviews.

There was only one working eleavator to the room floors. My check-in was not the best. My first room was not what I reserved, then the second room the door wouldn't open due to a dead battery and the front desk clerk expected me to wait while they got someone to fix the issue (not acceptable at all). I let her know that was not acceptable and though she wasn't forthcoming about getting me another room, I let her know I would not accept waiting and I wanted another room. Finally the third room was what I reserved. I also asked for a discount since I was not happy about a check-in that should have been at most 10 minutes that ended up taking more than and close to 40 minutes. I am still waiting on a discount for a future stay. I would definitely choose the hotel again as it is in a great location. There needs to be additional training at the front desk when a customer is having check-in issues. After I finally got checked in up until my departure it was a great time and the children enjoyed themselves as well.

I loved the stay. Rooms were a little small. However the hotel staff was friendly and helpful. I was supposed to get a room with a balcony, however, when we arrived. I was told bookings from Expedia were 3 days behind with their system and couldn't give me a room with a balcony. However, the staff member upgraded my room at no extra charge with a balcony as a result of my inconvenience.

Deafening airplane noise all day and night with planes going every 90 seconds. It's like trying to sleep on an airport runway.
