Washington Inn

It was good value for money, with breakfast included. It's proximity to the Bart station made it easy to access San Francisco city centre and cheap transport to SFO airport. It is also close to the Amtrak station.

The room was overall dirty and the carpet felt sticky and seemed like it hasn't been clean for a long time. The hair dryer was not working so I ask the front desk for a replacement. They didn't do anything about it for the 4 days I stayed there and did not even say sorry or explain why they couldn't replace it. The AC was not working, it was just blowing air, which made the room a bit chilly at night. The hotel was quiet but the noise protection is terrible and you can hear all the noise from the street. Every night I heard extremely loud music from the street, which woke me up in the middle of the night, every single night during my stay. I'm talking about 3-4 am.

This property has so much potential and could be really beautiful if fixed up, but as is it was run down and outdated. Worst of all was that the bathroom tiles were moldy and the whole room felt dank - we wore shoes the whole time because the carpet was moist. The rest of the room was oddly laid out but overall fine just very old and rough. Looked like it has not been well maintained or updated. Some of the cabinet doors were crooked and worn and there was a dearth of outlets. To use the outlets that existed we had to prop up the items because the plugs would fall out. The elevator (for when you have big luggage) was old and a little rickety. The staff member who checked us in was lovely but then I never saw another person downstairs for the remainder of our stay. And on Friday night there was a wrestling match outside our window. It was literally in the lot connected to the hotel. It was really loud and went pretty late.

Nice and clean king suite Older hotel but nice. Breakfast is served. The hotel has a bar and lounge area.

The place is pretty bad. I reserved a king suite room. It was very rundown. The walls were dirty and the bed linens were worn out. There were two TV’s in the room and neither one worked. I asked to be moved and all that was available was a queen room. It was in bad shape too and there was no heat. I asked for an adjustment on my bill from the king to the lower priced queen. I was told it would be applied to my bill but it was not. The young woman working at the desk was very nice but had not been trained very well. She was unable to help with the TV or the heater not working. I will not stay there again unless I know that the hotel has been renovated.

Nice place but needs updating.

It was ok. It is old and dirty, needs a lot of TLC and refurb. The staff were nice, but you could tell they too are tired of the situation. I have zero complaints about the staff. They're doing the best they can. The area has declined a lot since the pandemic. It is not the super vibrant community I remembered from pre-pandemic. I watched two different groups of kids casing the neighborhood cars to break-in in the middle of the day just outside the hotel. If you have a rental with out of state plates you WILL get your car broken into if you leave ANYTHING visible in there. TRUST ME. I believe there are long-term residents in the hotel, which made for some noise at times, but overall it was adequate for what I needed. It is centrally-located. Parking is across the street in the covention center parking garage and it is 25$/day. There is a process of going in and out and needing a key card. I probably won't stay again, but if you need budget, and don't want to be in a really sketchy neighborhood, this is probably a good bet. But three stars it is not.

It's a 109-year-old hotel but maintained well. We enjoyed the famous jazz club "Yoshi's" nearby.
