Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Charleston Downtown

The hotel is under renovation. There is construction debris and materials all over the place. It's unsafe to be in the property.

The room was clean and well equipped with a fridge, coffee machine, microwave and a big flat screen TV. The staff was pleasant although not overly engaging.

The hotel underwent construction so there was a lot of noice and you were confronted with construction workers everywhere in the hotel. The location of the place is fine but it's not a nice area of town and it's quite a long walk/ a drive towards the city centre/ harbour/ any sights. In an otherwise walkable city this was a negative point.

This place is under construction, looks like crap, really thought it was closed when we arrived late, the place is all torn apart. I asked where is breakfast, oh we are not doing that. I asked for discount since it was part of the stay, told no discount!

The location was fine.

The hotel was in the middle of construction, and we were not a made aware of that ahead of time. Both elevators were disgustingly filthy with construction materials. Everything was dirty. We asked for our room to be cleaned, and it never happened! The men were supposed to stop working at six and they were still banging after 9 PM.

Suppose this is a moot point as evidently the building has been bought out by another hotel brand. The lobby looked like a hard hat area except the very small square of space that was allocated for check-in and morning continental breakfast. The front portico where you arrived to check in was just dangling light fixtures. On certain floors you were navigating around construction equipment and paraphernalia to get to your room. The elevator also had dangling fixtures and walls were striped to the base metal and was a questionable ride. All of this is something that guests should have been told before arriving. The parking lot was also inundated with construction equipment which made it hard to get in and out of the parking lot or find space to park. The bed was very comfortable and I slept well.

Nothing, The worst place I have ever stayed in and I am 80 years old!!!!!!

The bed linens were dirty, the room was not cleaned properly and the one day they cleaned they did not leave towels, on one day they didn't even empty the waste baskets.

Construction going on

To be fair this place is under major renovation. Only 2 floors where available. A little expensive.

This property is under total construction, only one floor was open. They do not disclose this anywhere online. We thought the property was close when we arrived. Construction works and vehicles everywhere. Dust, noise aweful experience. And they would do nothing to compensate us for this disastrous stay!

if I had known that this property was under total reconstruction and was a disaster construction site. I would've never booked here.
